Installation and Upgrades / loading virtualbox on zentyal 3.2
« on: June 29, 2014, 08:13:45 pm »
I am having trouble installing virtualbox on zentyal 3.2.

I installed most of the denpendancies that were suggested, but I get an error message:

Code: [Select]
Setting up virtualbox (4.1.12-dfsg-2ubuntu0.3) ...
 * Stopping VirtualBox kernel modules                [ OK ]
 * Starting VirtualBox kernel modules
 * No suitable module for running kernel found      [fail]

I ran these statements:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-source linux-headers-`uname -r`
sudo apt-get install virtualbox

Code: [Select]
uname -v -r
3.11.0-24-generic #41~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jun 11 13:15:06 UTC 2014

Can you help me troubleshoot this?

Installation and Upgrades / libc6-dev dependacy problem in 2.2
« on: October 22, 2012, 12:52:31 am »
Hello,

I would like to install libc6-dev to my machine but I am getting a dependency issue.  I am logged in as root, so sudo is not an issue. Here is what I did.

1. I ran the update: apt-get update
2. I ran apt-get -f install libc6-dev and got this error:
Code: [Select]
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  libc6-dev: Depends: libc6 (= 2.11.1-0ubuntu7.8) but 2.11.1-0ubuntu7.10 is to be installed
E: Broken packages
3. I tried apt-get install libc6-dev=2.11.1-0ubuntu7.8 to force the matching version and got the same error as before.
4. I looked in the libc6 package dpkg -s libc6, and below is part of the output. Notice the version number 2.11.1-0ubuntu7.10 and is not what is reported by apt-get.
Code: [Select]
Version: 2.11.1-0ubuntu7.10
Replaces: belocs-locales-bin
Provides: glibc-2.10-1
Depends: libc-bin (= 2.11.1-0ubuntu7.10), debconf (>= 0.5) | debconf-2.0, libgcc1, tzdata, findutils (>= 4.4.0-2ubuntu2)

I am not sure how to proceed. Can you help me fix this and get libc6-dev installed?

My system is running Zentyal 2.2 | Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS | Linux 2.6.32-42-server #95-Ubuntu x86_64

Thank you

Installation and Upgrades / Re: change zentyal user name and password
« on: August 22, 2012, 09:32:09 pm »
Here is just an update to what I have done.  I hope I did not make things worse.  Please tell me if I did.

  • Changed to the root user with sudo su -  (I do this regularly, is that wrong?)
  • Added a Zentyal created user to /etc/sudoers, this is the same username added to group admin previously.
  • Deleted the username administrator created from PPA with userdel -r administrator
  • Using the Zentyal GUI, I added a user with username administrator.
  • Added username administrator to group admin with usermod -G admin administrator
Now that I had done that I went back to the GUI to logout, and tried to login with administrator.  When I clicked logout, I received errors.  I then tried to login again with the new and old usernames and got server 500 error.

I decided to reboot (and pray) to see if that would fix any problems.  It did.  I was able to login both to the Zentyal GUI and SSH with all the usernames.

But it gets better... The Zentyal GUI HAS NEVER BEEN AS FAST AS IT IS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!  I have always been used to making changes then click and wait 1 or 2 seconds.  Now, the GUI is SUPER FAST. It is really nice to work with now. But that also scares me.  Did I break something with this procedure?  If I didn't, then I recommend everyone to do it.

Any thoughts.....

I am having the same issue as @daniellench so apologies if this counts as hijacking.

I found out that the passwd program does not work when the following item is checked: Users and Groups->LDAP Settings->PAM Settings->Enable PAM []

I got that from this post: http://contrib.linalis.com/content/zentyal-problems-changing-root-password

After unchecking Enable PAM, I was able to use passwd to change passwords from the command line for linux users.

The only problem now is that I still can't login with the PPA username.  Get the error Incorrect password when trying to login to the Zentyal GUI.

I can login to the server via SSH with the PPA username.  I was able to login to the Zentyal GUI by adding a user created by the GUI to the system admin group from an ssh login, with adduser <username> admin

How do I get the PPA username to work as a GUI login?

Do you have any updates about the LDAP restore for ebox 1.2 to 1.3?

Thank you for your time.

It paused at:

The default action is to keep your current version.
*** muc.xml (Y/I/N/O/D/Z) [default=N] ? y

And I answered yes.

Can't sponsor the work for the LDAP upgrade, but I could contribute some $$ to the programmers.

I could do it by hand, but what are the consequences?  Will the roaming profiles still work?  how about all the permissions settings?  And we are using eGroupware thoroughly, What about the permission settings for eGroupware? Mail? Etc?

There is another thing that can be done to avoid the error:

Quote
Error: the server returned the following HTTP status: 500 Received:

Setting the max number of items in common preferences to 50 allows paging of the emails and less information that needs to be sent to the browser.

I found the next value.  In /etc/egroupware/apache.conf  Change memory_limit to 128M and all is well.

Question.  Will either of these files be overwritten by eBox?
/etc/egroupware/apache.conf
/etc/php5/apache2/php.ini

If yes, where is the correct place to make the changes?

Thanks again.

i am having a similar problem.

I changed the line:  memory_limit = 128M in /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini

When I go login in to egroupware, then goto Admin--> PHP Information, I get the PHPINFO() for the current session. Under Configuration --> PHP Core there are 2 columns; Local Value and Master Value.

The master reflects the changes in the PHP.ini, but the Local Value does not.  Do you know where the Local Value for memory_limit is set?
