Installation and Upgrades / Re: Bandwidthd install in zentyal

Check firewall-->packet filter-->internal networks to zentyal-->  (you are looking for service http) there needs to be an ACCEPT policy for http.

I had a similar problem when I setup a xen server with Zentyal running in a vm.  I had port forwarding and firewall rules to allow the connection to an asterisk server on the internal network.  Everything was right but it still wouldn't work.  I finally forced zentyal to rewrite all of it's config files by restarting it (su /etc/init.d/ebox restart).  After that everything worked the way I expected it to.  Couldn't hurt to try it.

Look at /etc/apache2/conf.d/bandwidthd  .   Pay attention to the allow from line.  Something like 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0  if your network was 192.168.1.0.

I opened a terminal and simply did "apt-get install bandwidthd"  and with not much waiting it was installed and running.  Could you describe how you went about trying to install it?

I beat my head off of port forwarding for hours.  Everything looked correct but it wouldn't work.  Finally I ssh'ed in and did a "sudo /etc/init.d/ebox restart" and magically it all fell into place working.  You might try that.

If you have enabled a firewall rule allowing all ports to your IP address and it is still not allowing you to access things then I would suggest restarting all ebox modules.  For some reason ebox's configs can get tied up in knots sometimes but a restart (which triggers all config files to be regenerated) fixes things.  SSH into the server and :

sudo /etc/init.d/ebox restart

this takes my system about 5 minutes to process.   I found this to be the solution in my case for port forwarding.  It wouldn't work even though it was configured correctly until I did the above and bingo all was working.

I am pretty sure that I know what is wrong but I am not sure that I can translate well enough to make myself clear in spanish.  Would someone help me translate the following?:

X-Lite uses plain passwords.  The asterisk setup in Zentyal uses MD5passwords by default.  Either 1) convert your password to md5 format or 2) edit the ldap settings for the extension to use secret instead of md5secret(what I chose to do).

Hope this helps ...

You can edit the grub.cfg and change the default=0 to default= 1 or 2 depending on whether or not there is a recovery mode entry in the second menu slot.  That should put you booting back in your old kernel so as to allow you to recover while running your server.  It sounds like there is a missing insmod lvm in the new kernel entry.

Check to see if opening TCP port 5060 helps.
Compruebe si la apertura del puerto TCP 5060 ayuda.

Installation and Upgrades / Log summary problems
« on: March 17, 2011, 04:39:13 am »
When I am looking at logs and choose summary, I get a strange error when I attempt to look through the details at the bottom of the page.  When I click to move on to any page past one I get an error in the frame that says :
------------------------------------------
Page not found (show help) (hide help)
we're sorry
The page cannot be found

    * If you typed the URL manually, please check it
    * Maybe a change in the Zentyal configuration or software made no longer available the requested page
    * If you need more help, you may want visit Zentyal homepage for documentation and mailing lists

---------------------------
Interestingly, the http summary page is not effected.  Any thoughts? This worked when i first installed the system.

Since the IP address is persistent (user always gets the same IP) you can just add them to your dns manually.

You are very welcome.  I have used X2go for a few hours now without incident.  I don't see a need to test out NX in this environment since X2go is providing the same level of service that I recall from my earlier experiences with NX.  Thanks for the tip cougarmaster!  I have it running on the Xen box as well as the Zentyal VM.

First blush on X2go is it passed a Microsoft level QA --- ie nothing blew up when I started it ;-).  It seems to work here.

The full command line according to ps -ef is /usr/bin/lxsession -s LXDE -e LXDE.  Running this on my Ubuntu desktop resulted in a layover of Zentyal's desktop components over mine.  Experiment with caution.
