Thanks for your answer.

As you suggested I tried.
User: short
Mail: short@mydomain.com
Alias: Name.Surname@mydomail.com

As you said its working but I am not able to send emails using the Name.Surname@mydomain.com account... which is a bit unattractive...

I undestand I have to possibilities:
1) Use short@mydomain.com for mail
2) Use Name.Surname as user-Id
right?

Which is the common setup?

Thanks!

Hi Jaime,

thanks for the fast answer! I think my second question was not very understandable (sorry not native):

- If its not possible to use mail-services on the master - how can I integrade 3rd Party Tools which need ldap-access for account-information AND email? As far as I understood the master-ldap doesnt has email-entries. Is it possible to use the ldap from the slave with email-service for this?

You can use any module from the slave server, including mail.

To clarify this - I have a master-server with only userandgroups running and a slave with mail-services running. Now I need to provide ldap-access for some 3rd party apps. If I use the master ldap for this purpose, I am missing the mail-entries inside the ldap (mail:xxx). So any chance to establish a ldap-connection to master or slave (with mail-service on) and getting access to ldap user-information (authentication) AND ldap user-mail-adresses?

Thanks,
Steve

Installation and Upgrades / [SOLVED] Possible with Zentyal?
« on: December 28, 2010, 10:10:50 pm »
Hi all,

i just played around a little bit with zentyal - looks very promising! If found some information in the docs and forum, but it would be great if anybody could clarify two things:

- If using master/slave setup - is it possible to use other services like mail on the master-server or does this still break sync to the slave-servers with zentyal 2.x? I read that the master must only run userandgroups, but the post was (hopefully) only valid for eBox 1.3...

- If its not possible to use mail-services on the master - how can I integrade 3rd Party Tools which need ldap-access for account-information AND email? As far as I understood the master-ldap doesnt has email-entries. Is it possible to use the ldap from the slave with email-service for this?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Hi all,

I installed one master (only userandgroups) and two slaves (slave1: office (samba etc), slave 2: communications (mail etc)). Everything is working quite well, all users created on the master server are synced to the slaves. But the "User and Groups" -> "Slave Status" page on the master server, is showing the following error:

Code: [Select]
An internal error related to a template has occurred. This is a bug, relevant information can be found in the logs.
The output of /var/log/ebox/error.log:

and /var/log/ebox/ebox.log:
Code: [Select]

  [/usr/share/ebox/templates/ajax/tableBodyWithoutEdit.mas:18]
  [(eval 1508):181]

I restarted everything but the error wont disappear. Any hints? I installed zentyal using a ubuntu 10.04 server installation using the given repositories. Dashboard code version shows: 2.0.12

If i can provide more informations to track the error, i am happy to do so.

Another bug, i`ve came accross during install: When you provide a wrong ldap-master password during slave-setup it isnt possible to change this in the webinterface. I needed to reinstall the whole slave.

One last question concerning the ldap-setup: as far as I understood only the slaves have additonal ldap-informations, ex. the mail-slave will add mail-account information, which are not available on the master-ldap-server. Is that right? What is the best way to use the zentyal ldap to authenticate for other systems like redmine. redmine needs authentication and mail information acccessing one ldap directory.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Steve
