Email and Groupware / Re: Calendar problem - synchronized
« on: May 22, 2019, 11:52:19 pm »Hello,
We have a post office in Zentyal, which has calendar functionality to monitor the work of employees. Each employee is required to enter an hour after an hour of what he was doing. We have the following problem: after synchronizing the calendars (all employees around 300) to the mailbox of one of the employees who manages the work and writes reports on these calendars. After a few days two or three calendars, shared calendars disappear and you have to download them again manually to be visible. It is cumbersome and significantly hinders work.
Is it possible to do so that once the synchronized calendars for the monitoring person do not disappear and you would not have to enter them again manually.
Greet and wait for a reply.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Zentyal as Domain controller and windows as ADC
« on: May 22, 2019, 11:39:11 pm »Hello,
Please help me with is topic how to configure Zentyal as a main domain controller and windows server as a backup domain controller like ADC.
i am not able to confiuger windows server as a Additional Domain Controller for Zentyal.
error is following
Verification of prerequisites for Active Directory preparation failed. Unable to perform Exchange schema conflict check for domain zentyal.local
Exception: The RPC server is unavailable.
Adprep could not retrieve data from the server zentyal.local through Windows Managment Instrumentation (WMI).
[User Action]
Check the log file ADPrep.log in the C:\Windows\debug\adprep\logs\20190408214417-test directory for possible cause of failure.
Could be the Zentyal firewall is blocking the RPC traffic?

PS: Did you know that Samba4 is compatible only until Windows Server 2008, yes?

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Zentyal command or API to change IP address
« on: May 22, 2019, 11:32:01 pm »I'm looking for a way to change the Zentyal server IP address without doing it through the Web UI. This is useful when the VM is moved to a new subnet, and access to the Web UI is not available, and console access is the only available method. Note that the X11 GUI is disabled to save resources.Zentyal loads data from redis throught stubs. So, when restarting the services your data will be lost.
I tried editing the file /etc/network/interfaces directly. The IP address of the server is changed after a reboot, but when I access the Zentyal Web UI, I still see the old IP address. I'm not sure where is Zentyal picking up the IP address to populate the Web UI.
Thanks to anyone who can help.
But, for your needs, I think you could reached your goals by using the gnu/linux ip command https://www.thegeekdiary.com/ip-command-cheat-sheet-command-line-reference/. So you don't need to edit any config file.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: [Help] remove hard drive that fails.
« on: May 22, 2019, 11:17:13 pm »Greetings to the zentyal team.
I have a problem with a hard drive that installs my zentyal server. The hard drive is as storage for the HOME partition, which I have many music files and programs for PDQ Deploy software installations, to share on the network. Last week I installed 2 new hard drives to extend the volume, but I did not notice that one of them is the one that is failing, it is also a different model.Code: [Select]administrator@servidor:~$ sudo lsscsi
The problem is ST3750525AS with the extension /dev/sdc
[sudo] password for administrator:
[0:0:0:0] disk ATA WDC WD5000AAKX-0 1H15 /dev/sda
[1:0:0:0] disk ATA ST3750640NS 3CNR /dev/sdb
[4:0:0:0] disk ATA ST3750525AS JC45 /dev/sdc
[5:0:0:0] disk ATA ST3750640NS 3CNR /dev/sdd
[6:0:0:0] disk Generic STORAGE DEVICE 9833 /dev/sde
I need to remove without damaging the system, I made an attempt to remove it abruptly and zentyal does not start.Code: [Select]administrator@servidor:~$ sudo lsblk -fm

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Phased migration from Exchange 2007
« on: May 22, 2019, 11:07:31 pm »I am trying to plan a migration from Exchange 2007 (AD Integrated to our internal corporate AD) to Zentyal as a standalone domain. Our internal domain is different than our registered live internet domain and Zentyal will be receiving mail under the external domain - duh. So there really is no need for it to be attached to the internal users. We have about 200 users but most of them are mail only users with no account on the internal domain.
It's a single server and single domain environment, so should be a piece of cake EXCEPT that I'd like to do a phased migration. I just need to ideas on how to pull that off. I can install it as a new mail server on a new address, but then the changeover would be all or none. How can I phase this? i.e. only have about 10-20 users trying it out and burning it in before going full live with it but still maintain my domain and email addresses exactly as they are (no sub domains etc).
Zentyal e-mail module depends on Samba module, so, in order to use it as mail server you have to migrate the domain directory control to Zentyal.
Samba4 is Windows Server 2008 compatible, so you could try to integrate Zentyal as additional domain controller ( if Exchange 2007 has this feature) and, after the migration of service, you could assignt the FSMO roles to Zentyal.
This last process works but there is some issues ( see here https://forum.zentyal.org/index.php/topic,19978.msg110446.html#msg110446 )
Additionally, You can play with e-mail virtual domains in order to mantain the service up while the migration

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Changing additional domain controller to primary
« on: May 22, 2019, 10:49:12 pm »Hi,
We have the same problem with zentyal 5.0 after a problem with primary DC we added an additional dc restored from another additional dc and then seized the fsmo roles, but in web interface zentyal says that the dc is an additional dc with the "old" name so backup doesn't works and have some other trouble ...
I can't find the bug track linked here, can you help me?
thanks
EDIT: I found the bug track in web archive but It says nothing else then buy the subscription for opening ticket and solve the problem... damn ithttps://web.archive.org/web/20140126031400/http://trac.zentyal.org/ticket/8009
Yes... I have had this problem too. It's annoying. I have the intention of studying this code when I will have some time. It's a basic feature. I love Perl but I don't know what are the Perl feelings for me!

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Unable to upgrade from 5.13. to 6
« on: May 22, 2019, 10:37:27 pm »Quote
I had tried to upgrade first using the dashboard and didn't work! In my second post there is the upgrade log.
I will try to check the update script, as you mentioned!
Some time ago I did the recovery process of a server suffering similar issues than yours. It is an annoying and dangerous. You should try to reproduce the situation in a virtual machine. I remember that I had to uninstall all zentyal modules, (amazingly redis did his job and configurations were saved nevertheles it's needed to restart the server), remove mysql-server and re-install it, for afterwards to proceed to reinstall the desired zentyal modules...
If you have the possibility I recommends you to proceed with a fresh install. If you have to recover the system follow the steps I have talled, but, please, do your training process in a virtual machine!

Installation and Upgrades / Re: For public school project
« on: May 21, 2019, 01:46:42 pm »Hi all,
can Zentyal handle 600-700 users for internet access filtering and firewall?
If yes, what should be the ideal spec?
Thanks to all
Hi!,
I installed Zentyal some years ago in a High School (~900 users) and it is still running.
The trick is to use Zentyal as default gateway and to configure DNS as transparent (So the little "hackers" can't change the DNS). However, because the generalized use of HTTPS, most of the work relies on the "block by domain" Zentyal feature instead the old filter lists. It can be really boring as sysadmin.
However you could find useful the proxy feature that permits to limite the bandwith. I found it really flexible and useful.
Cheers!

Installation and Upgrades / Re: upgrade from 5.0 to 6 pending
« on: May 21, 2019, 12:51:07 pm »firefox crash during upgrade and the dpkg.log finish by :
2019-04-26 11:57:04 status half-configured zentyal-dns:all 6.0
and by ps -ef, i foung a :
dpkg --force-overwrite --force-confdef --status-fd 68 --configure ....
still run....
What can I do ?
As you have comment that your browser crashed while the upgrading it could be useful to know the real system status.
Run this command in order to check yous system status after the upgrade.
dpkg -l | grep 'zentyal-'
All the packages should belong to the 6.0 version if the upgrade was succesful.
Look for the broken packages;
dpkg -l | grep -vE '^ii|rc'
Afterwards read this: https://www.rosehosting.com/blog/how-to-fix-broken-packages-on-ubuntu-16-04-and-debian-9/
Doesn't forget to check the samba database integrity (uses dbcheck options of samba-tool) and mysql database too. (In my experience MySQL seems to be a source of issues)
Cheers!

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Unable to upgrade from 5.13. to 6
« on: May 21, 2019, 12:25:31 pm »I am trying to upgrade my Zentyal from 5.1.3 to 6, but if I use the GUI, nothing happens and if I try the command line (sudo aptitude dist-upgrade) the system fail and stops to work!
Hi!
You shouldn't use the "dist-upgrade" option. Zentyal manages the whole process.
You have to update your Zentyal 5.1 system until the 5.1.3 core version. So, you'll see in the dashboard an upgrade button. Click it and the upgrade will begin.
Under the hood this button runs the /usr/share/zentyal/release-upgrade script which applied some fixes and configures the "apt" repositories. You can analyze the code in order to try to fix your system.
I recommend you to check the system in order to confirm that everything is working fine (disk space, broken packages, errors in the log files, etc.)
Cheers!

News and Announcements / Re: Zentyal 6.0 available!
« on: May 21, 2019, 11:25:40 am »can i update from 4.2 to 5.0 and then to 6.0 ?
Yes, but be cautious and check the Zentyal 5.0 changelog (for instance openChange have been abandonned in favor of SOGo)
In my case I did some trials by cloning my server config on a virtualbox machine before to do the real upgrade to Zentyal 6.0.
Security is priceless!
