Installation and Upgrades / How would you configure a small business server with 3 or 4 hard disks
« on: December 06, 2011, 10:03:01 pm »
Hi!
First of all, appologies if this is not 100% the correct forum.
I was searching on the net and didn't find any forum that was treating with more general questions about certain setups of a small business server. I thought chances to find some good advice and opinions here would be high.
I own a HP Proliant Microserver n36L where I installed (after a hard fight) Zentyal on the disk that came with the server (160GB).
The server has 4 slots for HDD. So I was thinking I would do the following:
HDD 1 -- 160GB -- Zentyal system partition
HDD 2 -- 1TB -- Software-Raid 1 -- Disk 2.1
HDD 3 -- 1TB -- Software-Raid 1 -- Disk 2.2
HDD 4 -- 1TB -- Backup disk for short term backups
External Docking-Station for SATA, connected via eSata for the long term external backups.
What do you think of this backup? Would you change something? Would you rather drop the Raid 1 for something else?
The server will mainly work as a file server in a small business environment. It should provide us with the possibility to share files and just have one project folder and everyone in the company (3-4 at the moment) have access to certain files.

Installation and Upgrades / Can't access the interent from the Zentyal server, LAN is ok
« on: October 29, 2011, 10:35:45 pm »
I don't know what has happened. I have recently, after a long and hard fight ;-), managed to setup Zentyal on my HP Microserver.
Today I wanted to set up the raid, but I can't access the web from the server anymore (this was working pretty well before). Without internet access, no updates, no software installation.
I didn't configure anything in particular.
Does anyone have a hint what could have gone wrong? I mean the server has an IP and it can access other computers from within the LAN. And I can access it from this notebook. So there must be some configuration that I can't access the web.
Any hint welcome! Where should I look?
