The setting are stored in the redis db server.
I have written a script to update values in the redis db, if the frontend updates fail.

Hi,
Being very new to eBox, I'm a bit disappointed to hear this, however it is the right thing seeing how some of the eGW programs do not work.
Which alternatives are you currently considering?
We currently use Zimbra extensively, but we use the Network Edition (NE) and unfortunately according to me the costs involved with Zimbra NE may deter many from using it.
I'm looking at the alternatives suggested by BBking.
Perhaps you would like to take a look at:
AtMail Server - http://www.atmail.com/
Zarafa - http://www.zarafa.com/
Unfortunately it seems all the half decent groupware solutions are commercial.

Could this be something with my setup?

Installation and Upgrades / [SOLVED] eBox 1.5: RoundCube 0.3.1 - GoogieSpell spell check
« on: August 13, 2010, 09:54:14 am »
I ran into a problem with the spell checker in RoundCube on my eBox 1.5 install. Although this is not an eBox related problem, I thought I'd make mention of it here for other eBox users.
After setting the spell checker to GoogieSpell (googie), even though there were clear spelling errors in the message, nothing was detected.
The solution for this problem was posted on the RoundCube forum at the following URL: http://www.roundcubeforum.net/5-release-support/14-release-discussion/7140-spell-check-problem-googiespell.html

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Fetchmail external account retrieval not working
« on: August 12, 2010, 09:15:59 pm »Seems like there are still some bugs/errors with 1.5... I've installed it multiple times (virtual) and still there are things comming up. Dropping networking connection on large file transfers (rsync), not able to retrieve mail, web UI not responding (have to use "service ebox apache restart") and some other issues. This makes it hard to put all my important data and mail on the server.
Is 1.4 more stable with ubuntu 8.04?
I can confirm that I see similar behaviour on my eBox 1.5 install. The one that bugs me currently the most is the eBox Administration interface that just hangs. You then have to use "service ebox apache restart" to get it going again.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Ebox doesn't recognize Broadcom NetXtreme 2 integrated nics
« on: August 12, 2010, 09:09:31 pm »
pepeltg, you are correct.
eBox 1.4 does not recognise certain Broadcom NICs. The problem is however not with eBox but with the version of the Broadcom driver in the Linux kernels used for Ubuntu 8.04. If I remember correctly the Broadcom driver version in the Ubuntu 8.04 kernels is version 3.68, while you can download version 3.110 from Broadcom's website.
I ran into this problem with my Intel DG41TX motherboard.
To get the NIC working I downloaded the driver from Broadcom's website, compiled it on my machine and loaded it. Everything worked.
However, since it was not part of the kernel by default I was worried that I would have to do this with every kernel upgrade.
It also bugged me to install eBox 1.4 which is based on Ubuntu 8.04 when 10.04 was included in eBox 1.5.
As such I opted to use eBox 1.5, cause it has a newer version of the Broadcom driver that detects my NICs by default AND it is based on Ubuntu 10.04.
The current URL for the Broadcom drivers is: http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/netlink.php

Installation and Upgrades / Re: [1.5] Software Raid Problem
« on: August 12, 2010, 08:57:18 pm »
I could not get eBox 1.5 to install on a software RAID1 drive created during setup.
To get around the problem, I did a "standard" install, with LVM. (i.e. no expert mode)
Then I moved the LVM VG to a software RAID1 device.
Works brilliantly but I would have preferred getting it going initially via the installer.
Maybe this helps somebody.

Installation and Upgrades / IMAP Connection Failure
« on: August 12, 2010, 05:01:14 pm »
I am running eBox 1.5 on Ubuntu 10.04.
This is 32bit ubuntu on a 64bit architecture. (Hopefully I'll get this fixed with version 2.0)
I have the following modules running:
The problem that I get is that I am unable to access the IMAP server, not via RoundCube or eGroupware or an IMAP client.
RoundCube gives the following error: "Connection to IMAP server failed."
Digging around in the logs I found:
From the above it would appear that there is a problem with the Dovecot antispam module. I have however been unable to find a fix for this.
A workaround for the problem is to edit the eBox template that generates the Dovecot config file
Comment out the antispam line, like so:
Now you can regenerate the config and the problem is temporarily solved.
