Will have to use the workaround

A new an updated Z 7.0.4 throws this error when viewing any log file:
DBD::mysql::st execute failed: The client was disconnected by the server because of inactivity. See wait_timeout and interactive_timeout for configuring this behavior. at /usr/share/perl5/EBox/MyDBEngine.pm line 478. ...propagated at /usr/share/perl5/EBox/CGI/Base.pm line 321. at /usr/share/perl5/EBox/CGI/Run.pm line 105
Anybody know a fix?

Running Zentyal 7.0.4.
Added it is a additional DC in a domain.
How can I get the DNS records transferred over from the other DC/DNS server?
Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks

News and Announcements / Re: Upgrade from Zentyal 6.2 to 7.0 is now available
« on: March 23, 2021, 10:36:56 am »
I tried that command and all I get is :
[0;32m - Checking the zentyal-core version...[0m
[0;31m Your system is up to date[0m
It does nothing clicking the button.
The documentation on this is very sparse.
Is there a reference to how to get from 6.2.4 to 6.2.8?

|That works - do a degree. The Authority section still points to the old DNS/AD server:

How do we change that?

Other modules / Re: I did the 6.1 upgrade now anything added to DNS won't resolve
« on: December 05, 2019, 11:30:38 am »Hello,
Same issue with a fresh installation of Zentyal 6.1. If I add a host (A record) to the main domain (the one used by Samba), direct resolution does not work with NXDOMAIN, but reverse resolution does work.
Dumping bind data with rndc dumpdb -zones creates the file /var/cache/bind/named_dump.db. Editing that file shows that the hosts I created in the GUI are not in bind's configuration, so obviously bind can't resolve them.
Please, could anyone confirm that with a previous Zentyal version you can create hosts within a Samba (dynamic) zone?
Thanks in advance.
[EDIT]
If I create another zone, not related to Samba/Active Directory, hosts are created correctly both for direct and reverse resolution.
I tried this and got the same result: Add record in non-AD zone and adds fine; Add record in AD zone and it won;t add and therefore resolve. It's referencing the old PDC that we ran ad-migrate on but it hasn't transferred the BIND over.
Is there anyway of editing this BIND so it points to itself? I don't know BIND that well I'm afraid so could do with a steer.
Thanks

We've got the same issue with 6.1 - after migrating it from and ADC to PDC it's still referencing the old DNS on the old PDC!!!
Really annoying. How do you fix this?

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Failed Upgrade from 4.0.18 to 5.0.14
« on: November 21, 2019, 11:30:26 am »
What we did in the end was to build a new Zentyal 6 server as and ADC whihc brought over all the AD information and after much head-scratching, and a reply from Zentyal HQ on their Twitter feed, promoted the Z6 server to a PDC using these instructions: https://doc.zentyal.org/en/directory.html#total-migration
It seems to have worked.
Bring the DNS records over though would be something we would be interested in finding out how to do.

Other modules / DNS Zone Transfers
« on: September 10, 2019, 05:59:16 pm »
I'm looking to migrate from Zentyal 4.1x to Zentyal 6.1 and I want to transfer the host records over using a zone transfer. I've setup the NS records between the two servers but how do you initiate it?
I've looked around the forums etc to no avail,
Any advice gratefully received.

Can this page help: https://doc.zentyal.org/en/appendix-c.html ?
I'm looking for some assistance regarding zone transfers as the mas files overwrite any bind directives in named.conf.
