Are you sure there is no problem with the hardware? I mean, if you have tried several software solutions on the same machine and the results are the same, then a faulty piece of hardware can't be ruled out.
This new piece of hardware. I can change network card, but I don't think so, this is a problem. I try..
Could the Windows server be running some service that is interfering with normal operations? Maybe DHCP is running there as well?
Could some other hardware (switch, router, access point) be causing the problem?
I double check all services, and nothing on windows server. We have some cisco switch, a linksys access point. None of them couldn't do something like this. However basic IPCOP working right now normal. (It can't stay, because he dosen't have QOS)
Still, you mention that some user is running a "Hamachi App". AFAIK that is a VPN software. Is this normal that "regular users" operate their own VPN networks? If that is so, could they also be running other pieces of software that interfere with your own services?
I know, more questions than answers. :-/
This is not regular user, this is second IT guy. Regular employe, can't.

It's good more questions, more answer, bigger chance to resolve this.

Thanks
Rafal

Thanks Josep for Your sugestions.
I would start by disabling all non-critical services on Zentyal, like the proxy, traffic shaping and IDS.
I mentioned, that was the first thing i think. I disable http proxy, IDS, and traffic shaping, when thats not help, I disable firewall. It dosen't work to.
Are the NICs properly identified as internal or external?
Yes, they good. One Internal, and one external.
Are there any conflicting rules in the firewall?
I didn't add any own rules, and in the end, I disable firewall too.
How are the connections from the Windows server itself? Does it experience any connectivity issues?
Yes, problem is for whole network.
If those errors are random and you suspect they are caused by a high load on the Zentyal server, just by disabling the above mentioned services should already alleviate the problem.
I think first, about load, but monitoring dosen't show any problems. The network gate is Dell T110 with core 2 procesor (E7300) and 4GB ram. I don't thin so, that isn't enought for this work.

This is my fourth distribution for gate. I use IPCOP, and it's working good, with any issues, but it dosen't have traffic shaping, which is very important for this network. I try IPCOP with modificate kernel for layer 7, and problems are like here. First one computer losing connection to gate. I was trying Smoothwall, and the same. Zentyal, works great for one day, and now problems are back.

Any other clues?
Thanks

Hello

SITUATION:We have an Orange network operator. All employe have Orange cellphones, registered with company e-mail adres it selfs. Like a john.it@company.com, mark.director@company.com, eva.sales@company.com. When Orange is going to e-mail marketing, all employe with registered email adress are reciving the same marketing message.

PROBLEM:  Im looking for a way to discard marketing e-mails, that are going to different people in the company mail server. Like when user john.it@company.com recive an e-mail, and the sam e-mail, but with different recipient is going for example to eva.sales@company.com, message is discard.

Is there any possibilty to do this. I'm thinking to use a spam check and some script, but maybe is somebody how know how to do it.

Thanks for help

Installation and Upgrades / Can't Ping Gateway - Zentyal
« on: June 12, 2011, 09:30:08 pm »
Hello

NETWORK DESCRIPTION: I have a small network with about 10 computers + some computers to test, three network printers, some access point, and physical servers. One is Linux virtual hosting, second one is windows 2008 SBS with active directory. On zentyal I have enabled all firewall and gateway packets. Im using traffic shaping, transparent http proxy, to qos my network. IDS, protection, firewall and vpn. rest is very basic like firewall and dhcp etc. zentyal is configures to be gateway to local subnet, its NTP server to. DNS, and WINS servers are on Windows 2008 machine.

PROBLEM: My general problem is that all works great first day. I have some issues with one machine that it loosing connection to internet. When I run windows CMD, and use "ipconfig /release", then "ipconfig /renew" connection was back for a little while. I found the problem was in this, user use hamachi app. When I disable it, and virtual card form it, problem stops, and it works.
Second day another user told me, he is having problems with internet connection. I ran the above commands, and internet get back, but for 5 minutes. Then it dosent work. I try to ping zentyal, but it cant, but I can ping to windows server. I think it was to big load on zentyal, so I restart it, but then all company lost connection with gate. I try to disable firewall, trafic shaping, http proxy, but nothing helps.

Anybody has any sugestions, what can be wrong. Where to start looking problem, or someone, because Im don't know what to do.
Please any thing, will be a gold.

Sorry for my english :)

Hello Rafal,

The match between your MAC address and the one you configured must be exact. We are sure this works :).

Double-check your MAC addresses (the one in your laptop and the one in the objects module).

Best,

Thanks, but it wasn't it. The problem is in object name. When object name is "Computer", the IP adress is correct, but if object name is "Computer_first" or "Computer first", it dosen't recognize object. I think is a bug, but I don't know where to check it. I think the group name has similar issue.

But thanks for Your help

Installation and Upgrades / [Solved]DHCP and static IP
« on: June 08, 2011, 02:29:21 pm »
Hello

This is my first post, so welcome All. I was using IPCOP, and I want to give a try to Zentyal. I want to configure DHCP server to assign static IP to computers with specific MAC address. When I go to DHCP module, I create range for DHCP like 192.168.10.120 - 192.168.10.254. I read the documantation, and there was an information that if I want static address asign, it must be over the range. In the DHCP module a can assign the static IP, but only to Network Object. So I go to Network Objects and create like a IP 192.168.10.55/32 and MAC in example aa:aa:aa:aa:aa:aa. I run DHCP server, connect my laptop with this MAC address and Zentyal assign me adress 192.168.10.120, but I want 192.168.10.55. This is a fresh install of Zentyal. I try to reinstall modules, and all over the Zentyal, but always the same. Could anybody explain/help me how can I do this simple thing?

Sorry for my english :) and very thanks for help/

Greetings
Rafal
