This does not have anything to do with this thread but thought I would note that NOT being able to retrieve pop mail in Zentyal 3.5 is a major issue for small businesses.  This too will prevent many from adopting Zentyal 3.5.  If this thread and the pop issues can be resolved, it will cause a massive jump in adoption.

Julien, thank you for taking the time to respond to this thread.  It is great that someone has looked at it.  The Crash problem is serious and makes Zentyal almost useless except for the simplest of installations.   Zentyal 3.5 still crashes when trying to upload data from a .pst file.  This feature is a must as there is no other way to load an email account with user's information.

I was able to upload notes.  Could not do that in 3.4
It crashed when uploading contacts, I have about 2000 contacts I am trying to upload.  This crash does not happen in 3.2 so something has been broken.  Using the same files.
It also crashes when uploading the inbox or any other folder.

I have submitted the crash reports...

:'(this must be a really serious issue... No one comments on it.

I was hoping they would fix this issue in 3.5, sad.

Zentyal team, can you please comment on this thread?

Installation and Upgrades / Re: OpenChange on HTTPs

Openchange has serious issues.  See in forums "Crash" "Samba" "Openchange"

is there any one from Zentyal looking at these forums?  At least give us a status - please....

Can someone from the project please comment on this state of affairs?

Thank you!

Someone on the project should post that 3.4 does NOT work as a Microsoft Exchange replacement to save people time...  Especially not as a drop in as is being advertised.  We waste time and get frustrated then lose confidence in the Zentyal project and team.

The goal is admirable, but do NOT release things that do NOT work, please.

I am having exactly the same problem, guys and gals.  Crash crash crashes are real and serious. Making the software pretty much useless.  There are YouTube videos showing it working perfectly.  What has happened and who is approving the releases that waste everyone's time.  Come on people...   What release actually works?

I should also that IE and Firefox are totally different. IE stores the CA in the windows operating system and FireFox stores it in Firefox's local cache, independent of the OS. So not all browsers act the same....

Escorpiom, I have only tested Zenytal 3.2.  It may work in other versions, but I have not tested it as I am pretty new to Zentyal.

But here goes, the Authority you need to import into your IE browser is the Certification Certificate Authority; and, in Zentyal 3.2 it is highlighted in orange. (Don't know about other versions.) Use the process I mentioned above to import this one into IE.   This CA is a root CA. You can see that it is a Root CA when you install.  Look at the issue to: and issued by: fields.  They both should say "Certification Certificate Authority" with out the quotes.  The other certs created are Intermediate Certificate Authorities (IMA) and you do not need to import them.  Although the common name on the IMA must match your FQDN. Then you must use https://FQDN to log into your server, otherwise you will get an error even if you use the server's ip address, for example.  The IMA issue by: field should be Certification Certificate Authority.  The issue to: field should be your FQDN.

The way it should work is that when your browser sees the IMA, it will look for a Root CA in its trusted root folder.  It will look for the Certification Certificate Authority (just a name Zentyal gives it) and use this root CA to validate the IMA.  This way you can have many IMAs and only need to import the one Root CA that will qualify all the IMAs.

Hopefully this makes sense... :)

Installation and Upgrades / Re: dns problem on zentyal 3.2.4

It is telling you that you need to add a Forwarder, since your are on a local net.

Under DNS Forwarders you need to add the IP address of the DNS server you want to forward to in case Zentyal does not understand your DNS query.  In my case, my zentyal server is sitting behind a separate firewall/router.   I use the router's ip address as the Forwarder.  I would image you could put your desire DNS server in there.

Yes it is odd.  My ipad and iPhone 4 have no problem.  Buy my Windows Phone 7, seems to like Z-Push as the domain and the server as mydomain.com, which is ok.

To get windows phone 7 to work, I had to first convert the Zentyal Certificate Authority from a .pem file to a .crt using openssl and secondly, import the .crt into a windows browser, this stopped IE browser errors, and lastly, export browser cert in DER format and port that over to my windows phone and install it, wow.  I must be the only using M$ clients with Zentyal.

Anyway, quite the job to figure this out.  The marketing department bills Zenytal as an exchange server replacement, but they do nothing to make it ready for windows clients......

On another note.  Is there anyway that I can change a user's From: address to something different than the user's main mail address.  For example, change the emails From: address of user@mydomain.com to user@someotherdomain.com.  You can do this in exchange 2007 really easy, but I do not see a place for it in Zentyal mail configuration.

I spoke too soon, different bugs with FireFox.  But FireFox does not have the login issue that IE has, as mentioned above.  It goes right to the inbox with Firefox.
Using FireFox, I tried to create a new email to test mail.   It give me a dialog box with no email in from field and no way to send the email.  Send buttons missing...
