Er is wel interesse voor een bijeenkomst, maar nog niets concreets.
Misschien moeten we samen een bespreken wat eventueel kan en hoe het kan georganiseerd worden.
Een programma opstellen is uiteraard nodig om praktische interesse te realiseren.
Laat maar weten of er interesse is, dan spreken we verder wel af.

Hello,
Even with the last update of windows 8.1, it is not possible to join the windows client to the zentyal domain.
Zentyal PDC is also DNS server and i use an account and password of an administrator of the domain.
I still have an 1.4.9 release of Zentyal, and it works fine
Is it possible a problem of Samba3 ?
Joining Xp or W7 clients, no problem to join the domain.

Thanks for the response.
At the moment i found not a solution yet.
The Zentyal PDC is also DNS server on his Ip address, the server is also WINS.
From the Windows 8.1 client, ping the server works correct.
When i try to put the w8.1 client in the domain, the server ask an administrator address and pasword from the server administrator, this give no problem but afther a several time i get the answer domein not found.
So al the needs by the server are correct installed and configured.
Join a windows XP client or a Windows 7 client on that same server works fine and correct.
There must be a difference en the software of the windows client ( Xp, Wè and W8.1 ).
Maybe his has spmting to do woth Samba, is still use Samba 3

Ingaand op de vraag van Ron.
Ik woon wel een heel eind weg van Amsterdam, meer bepaald in Schoten dat ligt bij Antwerpen.
Mocht er interesse zijn, dan wil ik wel naar Amsterdam of een andere plaats toe komen.
De Zentyal server die ik beheer is een file en printserver met 50 Window clients operationeel in onze basisschool die behalve documenten ook schooltoepassingen bevat. De versie is 1.4.9
Graag wil ik overstappen naar 3.2 maar gezien de nog belangrijke problemen in deze release is het nog even wachten.
Een toch wel zeer essentieel gegeven is het feit dat de restore van de configuratie nog steeds niet werkt, en backup/restore is één van de meest belangrijke items voor een operationele omgeving.
Ook dient er aandacht te worden besteed bij upgrade naar nieuwe versies, waar behalve het terugplaatsen van data , ook de configuratie moet kunnen worden overgenomen anders moeten alle clients terug in het domain worden geplaatst toch wel een hele ingreep. Upgrade moet soepel kunnen verlopen zonder al te veel problemen.
Zo indien interesse voor uitwisseling van ervaring, ik ben altijd geïnteresseerd.

Enkele jaren geleden was er een bijeenkomst in Maastricht met Nederlandstalige Zentyal gebruikers, georganiseerd door Robb.
Misschien is het interessant om nog eens samen te komen met een aantal geïnteresseerden voor:
- Uitwisseling van ervaring.
- Meer in detail bespreking over de laatste Zentyal versies.
- Dieper ingaan op de details van de software, meer inzicht is interessant bij de oplossing van problemen.
- Tijdelijke workarrounds totdat bepaalde bugs zijn opgelost.

Hallo iedereen,
Heeft iemand ervaring met de Zentyal versie 3.2.8 geconfigureerd als domein controller - office en communicatie server ?
Een groot probleem met deze versie is bet backuppen en restoren van de configuratie, een essentieel item om deze versie als operationele server in diens te nemen.
Ik werk nog steeds met de oude versie 1.4.9, die overigens nog steeds perfect werkt, zij het dat er geen updates meer worden uitgebracht.
Ingeval van een crash is het essentieel om de configuratie terug te kunnen importeren anders moet men manueel de ganse server configuratie terug invoeren ( users - shares - groepen client pc's terug in het domein plaatsen enz. ).
Ook bij de upgrade van bvb 3.0 > 3.2 is de export en import van de configuratie belangrijk.
Het probleem is nog steeds niet opgelost door Zenyal ( ticket 7722 als opgelost afgesloten, maar terug geopend onder het nummer 115 ).
Zolang dit probleem niet is opgelost kan de versie 3.2 niet operationeel worden ingezet.
Ik begrijp niet dat men dit laat aanslepen en in de vorige versie 3.0 werkte export en import wel degelijk, zoveel verschil kan er och niet zijn met het script voor 3.2.
Spijtig voor een fantastische software.

I have done some tests
In the old release 1.4.9 it was possible to restart the apache services.
In release 3.2.7 it does not work anymore ( /etc/init.d/zentyal apache restart ).
In orde to resolve your problem use the following command insteed:
sudo /etc/init.d/zentyal webadmin restart

How to post a new problem and a new ticket ?
P.s. my ticket 7722 import/export error on release 3.2.4 is reopend with number 115 with priority normal.
As long that this problem not is solved, the release 3.2.4 or later can not be used in a production environment becaus the backup/restore does not work so form it is a critical priority.

There is no need to install extra software on the Zentyal server.
On the pc where you want to connect to the server from distance, install and config VPN.
With the VPN connection, connect to your network at home, then in the Firefox webbrowser type in the URL of the zentyal server https://zentyalserver where zentyalserver is the name of the server.
Then you get the administration GUI on the remote pc an you can administrate the server from a distance.
In my case i have setup a VPN connection to the NAT router at home where the server reside, once the connection with the nat router is ok the type in the URL of the server in the Firefox webbrouwser, do not use IE from Microsoft it works not good.
