Just to make sure you know - yes I saw the following links in the forum - but they don't really fix my problem.

https://forum.zentyal.org/index.php?topic=4078.0

and

https://forum.zentyal.org/index.php?topic=18548.0

I need a solution - even if it means going into a config file and adjusting it so I have Webadmin starting on 443 again.

Thanks,

Try the following command:
$ netstat netstat -tlnp | grep 443

You should see something like below:

tcp        0      0 0.0.0.0:443             0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN      -
tcp        0      0 127.0.0.1:61443         0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN      -
tcp        0      0 127.0.0.1:62443         0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN      -

If you do, use the following in your browser address:

http://127.0.0.1:61443

If it works, you should see your Webadmin now.

Good luck, hope it helps.

I went ahead and downloaded the mail via pop and  uninstalled Mail and Webmail.

I then installed the OpenChange Server and OpenChange Webmail.

Now the problem I am having now is starting the OpenChange Server and the OpenChange Webmail through the Dashboard.  I would rather it work throught the Dashboard, but can I start it through the cli as well?

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks,

Hey Absolute!

Hope all is well with you.   When ever I go to make firewalls for my customers I use Polywell Computers/OEMProuctions

I get my device pre-build to my specs.

Here is one of my setups I use for firewalls - (you can call up and adjust to your liking)

http://www.polywell.com/us/oem/ITX-525L4.asp

(don't worry about the serial ports on the pictures ... it is built to custome specs - so the back would look more like this next picture below)

You can also get optional wireless so that you can do Hostapd if needed.

MBITX-D525NF96U   -   PolyITX-525L4 Atom 525 MB 1-4LAN Option PCI DCin
NBHDSA320-54         -   320GB 2.5" SATA 5400RPM Hard Drive

Ask for Mitchell and let him know Jeff from Computer Visions recommended them.

zentyal-samba_3.5.3 and zentyal-users_3.5.3 is out:
http://archive.zentyal.org/zentyal/pool/main/z/zentyal-samba/
zentyal-samba_3.5.3_all.deb & zentyal-users_3.5.3_all.deb

Thanks for the followup Julio!  I was unable to get to the site with the server.  I will be checking out the server this week when I get a chance to go over there.  I will also be loading the new zentyal-samba_3.5.3 module.  Let you know what I find.

Thanks,

I agree with Robb.

You more then likely will want to do a image of the server before you virtualize it tho with something like Clonezilla or Driveimage XML.  This will help to have an image backup, and if for some reason you hit a wall and have to go back to SBS2003.

http://clonezilla.org/
https://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm

Virtualize it with Virtual box.

Sounds like the best possible migration method.

Hope it helps,

Under - Zentyal Administration port and other reverse proxy service ports

I unchecked the Zentyal Webadmin from 443.

Now I am getting getting the following error:

"Wrong HTTP referer detected, operation cancelled for security reasons"

When trying to select items in the Dashboard - such as turning on/off modules and installing/deleting modules, as well as other things.

I can not select the Zentyal Webadmin to use 443 anymore.  It gives me the same error as above.

Any ideas what is causing the error?

Thanks,

News and Announcements / Re: Zentyal 4.0 Roadmap Published!
« on: July 27, 2014, 05:06:55 am »
I understand the need to make sure you have a rocksolid foundation for Zentyal.  I have known of Zentyal from 1.0 and just recently found Zentyal to be ready for deploying to my customers who still have Win2003 SBS running and want to move on.  Now with the Zentyal 4.0 Roadmap, I guess I am confused as to how you guys came to the decision of moving away from the following modules? Can you give some clarity on this??

Removal of the IPS module   (if Zentyal will be a gateway - then removing this is a mistake)
Removal of the UPS module (NUT) (It seems like this should be included)
Removal of the Backup module (Duplicity)  (no SBS would be complete with out  a backup solution)
Removal of the Monitor module (This seems to set Zentyal a part from other SBS, this gives the Admins a way to track down problems and make sure things look ok)
Removal of the RADIUS module (I don't use this much, but I know in Enterprise settings this will upset balance and flow for those in the Enterprise)
Removal of the Webserver and Webmail module (Roundcube)   (I and many others run websites from their SBS so this will be a hit for us - I guess Roundcube is being replaced with OpenChange Webmail so that won't be an issue)
Removal of the IPsec module (I am sure those who like an availibilty to fine tune their SBS routes and nats and such will miss this module)
Removal of the Free Zentyal Account (I don't use this... I think, so I don't know what this affects)

Could their be another way around getting rid of these modules???  The whole reason I jumped on Zentyal is that it is feature rich and it can provide the solutions I need at my choosing for each client, and it can all be setup, configured and changed in the Zentyal dashboad.

If your still gonna do this removal of modules,  could you take on a more Webmin module availibility to Zentyal?  Where you could allow these modules to be add and removed from the Dashboard.  Could you allow a place to allow the modules to be looked at and cared on by your fellow Zentyal members and community members?  I don't see why you would want to axe something that could be helped through other means.

The questions is... is there another way to allow them to remain and still have the benefit from the modules that I have seen, as I am sure others have seen as well?

I am so far happy with Zentyal 3.2 SP2 and Zentyal 3.5.   Making these cuts seem extreme.  And could put people out to find other homes for there SBS setup.  Putting them on ice to me seems drastic and not in your best interest.

What would it take to keep them in the plans, what is holding you back from keeping them in Roadmap 4.0?

Guys,

Does anyone know if there is a procedure to move from Mail and Webmail to OpenChange Server and OpenChange Web Mail?   Or if I can uninstall Mail and Webmail, and just install OpenChange models.  I am interested in having the groupware side of things.  At the same time I don't want to loose emails from my Mail side.  I thoght I read some where that it uses Postfix and that it will be fine to switch.  But I wanted to make sure I ask to make sure.

Thanks for your help,

@shadowfire
please post your zentyal log file after following commands (after reboot):

Code: [Select]
sudo cp /var/log/zentyal/zentyal.log /var/log/zentyal/zentyal.log.bckp
sudo truncate -s0 /var/log/zentyal/zentyal.log
sudo reboot

try with new zentyal-samba_3.5.3 update

I will be out in the field today.  As soon as I get done and get back in the office I will try to get the log to you.  Thanks for the follow up.

The changes on github in that bug thread (https://github.com/Zentyal/zentyal/pull/1405) are in the latest build. All those changes are in my system. The issue still exists. I just checked the patch noted in the thread for ldap.pm and it is not been added. I added the changes but won't be able to check if it solved my problem until later tonight. I suspect it will but isn't the fix they want to implement.

This is one of the main features of Zentyal as a server, I would think that this would have been taken care of ASAP.  I have noticed this bug on the server for next to almost 3 weeks now.  I have had to reboot the server and then stop the UCF (Users,Computers, and File sharing) module and then stop the printer module.    Then start the UCF (Users,Computers, and File sharing) module and then start the printer module.  This is ongoing daily now.  I am hoping they can find a fix quickly.

So I think I might have figured it out.   It may have been fixed already but check this out.  I was looking in the home directory where it places all the users H: personal directories.

I did the following:

root@zjsrv:/home# ls -l

total 44
drwx------   2 ann    domain users 4096 Jul 22 13:17 ann
drwx------   2 betty  domain users 4096 Jul 16 15:04 betty
drwx------   2 carol  domain users 4096 Jul  2 18:36 carol
drwx------   2 karen  domain users 4096 Jul  2 19:00 eleana
drwx------   2 eleana domain users 4096 Jul  2 18:40 inez
drwx------   2   2505 domain users 4096 Jul  2 19:02 karen
drwx------   2 ann    domain users 4096 Jul  3 00:05 kathy
drwx------   2 kathy  domain users 4096 Jul  3 00:03 melissa
drwxrwx---+  4 root   domain users 4096 Jul  2 18:23 samba
drwxr-xr-x  17 super  super        4096 Jul 22 12:01 super
drwx------   2 inez   domain users 4096 Jul  3 00:07 volunteer
root@zjsrv:/home#

If you look closely you will find that some of the users and user groups don't match up.  I believe somehow the configuration samba Zentyal scripts for samba must have had a glitch in them that allowed a switch up on the user and groups.  Any who.  I went back manually to recreate the folder, user, group and permissions and it worked fine.  So now I am going back to the others that I have not changed and only changing the group to be the same as the name.  This should fix my issue manually.  So one may want to check samba configuration to make sure its not still a glitch.  I have a feeling it is no longer a problem.  Just wanted to offer up my observations and a manual fix.

Thanks,

There's a patch for this that I guess hasn't made it into the official build.

https://tracker.zentyal.org/issues/1090#note-13

I have noticed that my UCF (Users,Computers, and File sharing) module seems to have a mind of it's own when the server is left alone for a time.  I can come back in a day or two and I find that the UCF module is now off - even though the Module status shows it checked.   To manually fix this (which is slightly annoying) I have to shutdown printers, and then UCF module, and then restart UCF and then printers module.  In that order or I get errors otherwise.   Just to make sure this doesn't slip through the cracks, do you think that the patch above will also fix the problem above or is this something else that need to have someone take a look.  Let me know if I can send you a log file or information on this that might help your cause.

Thanks,

So far everything is back to normal - save the users network directory on H:\  Some users show it... but when you try to access it you get "Location is not availible" windows that says "H:\  is not accessable and Access denied".  But I have check permissions and I have check to make sure the Drive Letter say H:. - no dice.   Then I have another user that I deleted and recreated that has no H: user network directory.  I am at a loss.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

So I think I have figured parts of it out.  I have had different issues with the samba and roaming profiles half of Zentyal 3.5.  First part I had to reinstall Samba module (Users,Computers and File Sharing module).   Then I had to make sure my computers had no residual JUNK from previous servers (Windows/Mac/Linux SMB).  Remove clients from domian.  Then rejoin them back to the domain.  Then I had to recreate my Groups, Users, Shares and Printers on my Zentyal 3.5 server.  If any hickups survived with users I have deleted them and recreated them on the Zentyal side.

The good thing about this all is that I am getting a crash course in Zentyal 3.5 and its underlining workings, bad part is it doesn't fit my schedule.  No worries we are getting there.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
