Yes. I got it, for me I am using the community version.  Although this incident with Calendars on OpenChange/SoGo shakes my confidence with Zentyal, Community version or not, I tried to get help in finding an answer to backups for backups on my data for Calendars it took well over a week (it should be documented for admins to be able to familiarize themselves with the system and be able to learn it on their own if they decide to support it - not everyone has a huge budget to mess with and we have to improvise).  Even when I got answers, they were vague.  Now this!  this is starting to make me question Zentyal's capableness in any environment to be a true solution.

I hope I can trust in Zentyal for my clients, I can not afford issues like this... I know my customers can not either, especially when they are planning to move to the small business version.   If I can not trust in the Zentyal community version, how can I expect to trust it in the business version?

Please, someone help me to find out what happened to the calendars after upgrade of core 3.5.4,  so I can put this issue to rest and know if they are gone or if they are just in another database of Mysql after upgrade. (I know I am not the only one now that is seeing this issue, and I'm sure it will affect your other users, probably even on the business version as well.)

I am really impress with Zentyal/Openchange/SoGo and its ability to run Outlook/Thunderbird(&Lighting). (that is by far my favourite part -choice of email client)

Please help me to regain my confidence in the Calendaring/Task/Contacts side of it.

Hoping to see a solution to this issues

Thanks,

Gabrieletassoni,

I also did an upgrade to core 3.5.4.  That probably has something to do with it.  It shouldn't have happened tho. Hmmm.

So can someone shed some light on a fix to get the Calendars back?  Please help us sort this out.

Thanks,

I have been running my shared Calendar on my Zentyal server just fine until just recently.  I have never had it disappear on me like it has just recently out of the blue.  Normally I just open Thunderbird, goto lightning to review my day and calendar event and it shows them via the OpenChange/Sogo with out incident.  Is it possible that the file is still on the server and is just not pointed to it anymore (and I can repoint it back to the file or data?  I was told that the data is in a MySQL database, how can it be missing like this  and not be able to be seen anymore.  I have not reset my database.  Is there a way to try a search it out?  Any help on this would be great.

Thanks,

 jbahillo,

Ok. Thanks for half of the information.  ( I asked the following -  there should be quick and easy explanation about *location* and *methods of how to back* that *location/type* of *file/data* to be backup.)

So, no offence, but this is how good products die... if you know the process, the program, and how to get to them, it is so much easier to just place it in your post.  I mean, seriously, I do, when I figure things out so that I can help others, I don't know why everyone has to make it cloak and dagger or mystical.

I don't have time to get in to Phpmyadmin and check my find with what I found, but I think it is the one.

Anyway, since no one wants to offer that info, I believe I found it for Zentyal - For those also needing a location (and correct me if I am wrong):

Code: [Select]
/usr/share/mysql
and the file is called:

Code: [Select]
mysql_system_tables_data.sql
If that is the correct one, hopefully this will help someone.  When I get back today I will checking it out and give an update to what is in that SQL file,

Thanks,

-SF-

i think it is the dovecot module, or maybe they are stored in the sql database

Mandarine,

I have seen something about that possibility of it being dovcot module/sql database.  Still I need a SOLID location from the Developer/Tech's.  I am asking for this information so I can do backup for my calendar's and task's and stuff.. so I don't loose them. (I cannot backup or have a backup solution if I don't know where the target is to backup)  I didn't realize that it would be so hard to get an answer on this subject.  There should be quick and easy explanation about location and methods of how to back that location/type of file/data to be backup.

This really shouldn't be a very hard question to answer.  This should also be a priority question to be answer for your users/community/customers.

Thanks,

-SF

I don't think it was a matter of asking how does one access their own Calendar/Tasks via SoGo but where on the Zentyal file system does the program store this data so they can make redundant backups of the items themselves.  I'm still waiting on the documentation Shadowfire (the official one that I can purchase) and would assume that information will be available there.

Royceb,

Thanks - that is exactly what I meant.  Glad someone understood.  Does anyone know?

Thanks,

Could someone lead me to the correct location Zentyal server where the Calendars are for OpenChange/SoGo for Zentyal?

I want to know it so I can start backing it up.

I think I have found the cause of the problem. It seems to occur when you use guest access. I have disabled the guest account, and am only using normal ACL's now and the error didn't show up.

I am glad that disabling guest worked for you.  I can only say that during install, upgrading and moving fvorward - the whole time my settings for guest have never changed - it has always been disabled.  So on my side that was not the problem.  I am glad that disabling guest user worked for your setup.  Thanks for letting other know your experiences as well - it is very vauable for those navagating the Community version.

Thanks,

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Zentyal 3.5 - Openchange settup error
« on: August 03, 2014, 04:30:04 am »
StuartNeylor - thanks for the heads up... unfortunately for me I don't give up easy.  I always want to know why something  is not working and find a fix for next time.  Since I am trying to settle on Zentyal I have to make sure it will work for all the customer/clients I decided to move to it.  So looks like the diagnostics begin here with Openchange.  I will probably start with verifing location of the config files and database file for OpenChange.

I did find the following:

https://forum.zentyal.org/index.php?topic=21280.0

looks like I will be having some fun.  *sigh*

Installation and Upgrades / Zentyal 3.5 - Openchange settup error
« on: August 03, 2014, 12:38:41 am »

Finally getting a chance to install Openchange and run setup, somewhere in the middle of it's setup process Zen choked on something and never finalized the Openchange setup process.

So now when I go in to >Openchange>Setup

I have an unconfigure box to press.  When I click on the unconfigure button I get the following message above in a red filled box,

Openchange cannot be deprovisioned:
params.c:pm_process() - Processing configuration file "/etc/samba/shares.conf"
[!] Unable to unregister this server, it's being used for: primary receipt update service server, handling 2 mailboxes

So some how the file shares.conf didn't get totally cofigured.  If that is the case, and now when I press the unconfigure button in Openchange setup and it doesn't work, what can I do to get Openchange to be configured correctly at this point???

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks,

I decided that it was so wacked with the message "(!) Wrong HTTP referer detected, operation cancelled for security reasons" at every turn that I decided to remove haproxy (you could probably just remove zentyal - like sudo apt-get remove zentyal) and it was wanting to take everything out.  So I just went with it.  Saddly  I had to do this.. but oh well.  I got it working.  (Note: I am running community edition at this location)

Interestingly Zentyal was now setup with old settings in the resolv to where it gave me an issue getting to webpages and pinging them ... but I could ping ip address ok.  So I went to the resolv.conf and put in my gateway address and a external name server ( 8.8.8.8 ).  After that I was able to get to webpages again and ping anything I normally could.

So then I just reinstalled everything ( sudo apt-get install zentyal)  During the install it ask what Administration port would be and I kept it as default.

After reinstall was done, I just went to the Web GUI and added all the modules back.  My information was still intacted for the most part.

I was able to get to everything without the silly "(!) Wrong HTTP referer detected, operation cancelled for security reasons" message anymore.

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks,

I am trying to set up a Zentyal-server.

There are two different networks (192.168.10.x and 192.168.11.x)
My router for the internet connection is in 192,168.10.x.
The server now has two networkcards, one with ip in 129.168.10.1 and the other one has 192.168.11.1.

i configured the network card with the ip 192.168.10.1 as external connection.

I want the zentyal server to be dhcp and dns server for the 192.168.11.x network.

If you haven't already.  Check your gateway.

Goto Network>Gateway

the gateway you want to add will be 192.168.11.1 If it is not there already

select eth0/eth1 (which everone 192.168.11.1 is configured to)
make it default.
and enable it.

Go into Network>Interface
Make sure that 192.168.10.1 is setup as a
check External (WAN)

Hope this helps,

Thanks,

News and Announcements / Re: Zentyal 4.0 Roadmap Published!
« on: August 02, 2014, 04:55:10 pm »
There are so many good ideas and thought processes here.  It would be ashame if Zentyal  does a Micro$oft  Windows 8 to 8.1 on its users.   Let me explain.  Micro$oft decided to move in to the touch experience head on... running, jumping and pointing the way as if to lead (which I know there has to be direction - but not at the cost of your soldiers and supporters)   Saddly to say this is not the first time that Micro$oft has done this and had to eat crow.

Back to the point and I will dumb it down to two main feature and not a list for time preservation.   Micro$oft went through Alpha and BETA testing  with their audiance they getting appal amounts of feed back from users - for dislikes and likes, keeps and throw aways.   And at first it seemed that MicroSoft was listen with the new Windows 8 request and thoughts from the test community and users.  Then slowly it became apperant that Micro$oft was vearing of course from the feed back they were getting from their community that was testing Window$ 8.  Things like making Metro the new desktop... almost completely stripping the old faithful desktop away. Taking away the Window$ Start button and all its menu items.

For some reason Micro$oft forgot that the users were the ones who were commanding their experience on the desktop and still had first hand knowledge of what happens or doesn't happen on it.   Micro$oft also miss the memo that the users that would using Window$ 8 didn't all have touch screens and they all didn't want to use a new desktop.  Luckly they at least kept the desktop and made it an app on Metro but wouldn't for the life of them make it possible for the user to select their enviroment they wanted - desktop or Metro.

To make matters worse, even with strong feedback from the users and external test contributors Micro$oft stongly bucked and ignored the Start button/menu suggestions and feedback and desided to make the new side start menu.

On October 25, 2012 they release it got not mixed feelings, but a great number of strong feelings against it's assumptions of how the users wants to work on their already established desktop.  Yes - some people went with the flow and accepted the awkward changes made to their desktop, but many more were disappointed at the direction Micro$oft pushed on them.  I doing so Micro$oft had to rethink it decision in its  public beta in June 2013 that it rolled out to manufactures in August 27, 2013.  They also decided to make the upgrade free, because they knew they screwed up and had to gain the confidence back of their audience with the blunder of not listening to their customers and testers communities feedback.

Please Ignacio Correas and Zentyal Developement - You are at a pivitol point right now, and making a decision like the one your about to make can have very lasting effects on your clients, customers, users, and community.  Don't do a Micro$oft on your users.   Don't loose the respect of those who enjoy this product by alienating those people who use your product on a daily basis.  The ones who get you in the door to the companies would would have never know of you, except by the IT person who has trusted in your product and plans on rolling it out to many other client/cuistomers in the future because of its strengths.   You may not see or understand that these modules create a strengths for your server offering to your clients and the community - but I suggest at the very least, you should give your customers and community a chance to help you with the ideas that may make you, from the idea that you have decided that may break you.

If their is one thing that I know about, it is the willness of your followers and fans of your product to want to help you make it better!  To help where they can.   The reason for all these posts is that these are users who enjoy your product and want to keep using it and keep enjoying it.   Even I would like to see how I could help with allowing backup module to move forward - as I feel this is extremely important in setting your self apart from other packages out their that are in your niche.  As you know and I won't list them... there is more then just Micro$oft in the SBS market.  We are willing to work with you, yet at the sametime, we don't want to be shaffed and ignored.   Reading through the forums we know that this has happened in the past.  I believe you have lost enough people in the past.  I would guess being to proud and arrogant is an additude towards those that help you, that you can not afford to make.  Zentyal is not the only one who has gone through these growing pains, but they can make a concious effort to stand with their cutomers/user/community instead of letting them stand alone and having to go at it alone.  So reach out to us and help us help you!

Let me suggest this.  Why not hold a gathering of Zentyal/user/community on a medium like mumble (voip server) / screen connect meeting, on a specific day, where parties who are interested in letting Zentyal Company Reps/Devs, know why these modules or lack of would be good or bad.  What Zentyal has help them and where it needs help.   You can gain alot of user feedback, but at the same time allow participation from your user/community base to help you find a road to a solution.  I think some great ideas have been stated here on this thread - but I beleive we can build upon them.  Due to time costraints and life, people are not able to always convey everything they want to in a post.  Let do it via conversation, let find a solution to Zentyal module dropping together.  We all love what Zentyal has been and we all want to see Zentyal succeed and be the best it can be.

I realize Zentyal Company members are busy and have things to do like us all.   I would be glad to help with setting up a day and the availibilty of a mumble or screenconnect meeting with the proper Zentyal Rep/Devs.  (helping Zentyal setup a server if they have never done it - also putting together instructions for those customers/user/community that want to be apart of it)  Let me know what I can do to facilitate this event with Zentyal.

Thanks,

-SF-

In the Zentyal WebGUI Dashboard I am currently getting an ongoing issue with the following error that pops up when I select option and try to change settings.

(!) Wrong HTTP referer detected, operation cancelled for security reasons

I am unable to make changes now in the interface due to this issue and it will not allow me to select and apply properly to the components in the WebGUI Dashboard.

I have tried the fix in forums on the following link:

https://forum.zentyal.org/index.php/topic,4078.0.html

Update:
It was a Firefox issue:

about:config
network.http.sendRefererHeader value 0 --> Standard/default is 2
changed it and bingo.

But it didn't fix my servers problem - and seeing that the only browser in LXDE in Zentyal is firefox - this is a big issue and I am unable to find the correct fix.  I have tried to go snooping around in /usr/share  where all the zentyal directories or and see if I can find a place to fix the setting for Administation port setting from 443 to another port number... such as 61443 (I guess that is the default???)

aywho this what comes up when I do a the following command:

$ netstat -tlnp | grep 443

(Not all processes could be identified, non-owned process info
will not be shown, you would have to be root to see it all.)
tcp        0      0 0.0.0.0:443             0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN      -
tcp        0      0 127.0.0.1:61443         0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN      -
tcp        0      0 127.0.0.1:62443         0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN      -

So how can I get the port changed from 443 to another one through cli?

What file can I locate and adjust to allow it to reflect in the Dashboard and stop the error?

Thoughts? ideas?  help?

Wuffei I appologies, I should have added the sudo like StuartNaylor had pointed out.  Infact both ways that StuartNaylor points out should help you with your goal.

Sorry for the confusion.   (and it's Mr.  :-)   thanks )

Have a blessed day,
