Title: [SOLVED] eBox 0.11.99
Post by: ebox-steve on February 18, 2008, 09:23:29 am
Dear eBox team,

I'm currently using eBox version 0.9.99. In the download section there is only version 0.11.2 installer, how to obtain the latest version 0.11.99?

Whenever a newer version released, what is the best practice to do, install from scratch or just an upgrade would do enough?

Thank you!

Best regards
Steve

Hello,
  0.11.99 is a development version so ithere isn't disc installer available (we save the work in the installers for the regular versions).

If you have a previous eBox version you can use the 'Software' section to upgrade to the latest version.

We try to make the upgrade between versions smooth and error-free, however sometimes bugs pass below our radar, so the most safe bet is to upgrade only to non-development versions (version with his last number below than 99).

Cheers,
  Javier

It's supposed your menu entry regarding to software management must show the lastest version to install (0.11.99). If the menu entry is not there, then ebox-software package is not installed.

If it is not the case, you may run these commands:

Code: [Select]
$ apt-get update
$ ebox-software

As Javier said above, both methods are recommended to apply. But take care of making a backup of your configuration and data to prevent corruption after an upgrade due to any unknown bug.

I hope this helps...

Gracias Javier y Sixstone, now all of my components are version 0.11.99!

Ok, will take note of your advices, re: upgrade to non-devel version and backup my configs and data first before upgrading.

Best regards,
Steve
