« on: April 16, 2010, 05:45:51 pm »
same problem here, have been looking for problems and errors but got no result.
As I have EBox on one of my production system, please resolve this quickly!

thanks for the update, experienced the same problem and resolved it by rebooting, only to get the same problem after the daily update round.
the gconf kill did the trick as well.

The asterisk problem with an earlier update (breaking slapd) and this error make me doubt ebox as a reliable solution, if ebox wants to be a professional contender, i suggest more unit testing or a stable and a bleeding edge trunk for different needs.

refer to http://forum.ebox-platform.com/index.php?topic=3396.msg14753#msg14753
same issue, see if the file I mentioned there exists and rename it to {2}asterisk.ldif or delete it if theres already a file named {x}asterisk.ldif where x is an integer

no that just means you ran slapd -d without sufficient rights, use sudo or su root to run it
to be sure of this, also check your configuration using slaptest, and before running the debug command make sure you killed slapd else the port and address are already in use

5
Oh whoa! You think that's been the problem all along?

yes, you can check this by running slapd -d 65535 on a terminal window and check if the latest line slapd gives says something about a duplicate schema

problem solved on my side, after somne additional digging I discovered a problem with the latest asterisk update, where the schema file for ldap got renamed.

So for those having the same problem, run slapd -d 65535. If you get the error duplicate schema or something similar, go to /etc/ldap/slapd.d/cn=config/cn=schema  delete the file with the same size as your asterisk schema file (a name like the asterisk file, but without {asterisk} in it) and delete this file.

then restart your ebox, and everything should be up and running

I actualy am a system administrator, so I cannot reinstall from scracth. Using my linux knowledge and running slapd in debug I found out there was a duplicate entry. Checking the /etc/ldap/slapd.d/cn=config/cn=schema directory, it became obvious that the asterix file was duplicated into a file named cn=.ldif, deleting this file resolved the issue

same problem here, slapd cannot start, urgent help required!

did you enable the filesharing module in module status?
the overlay will prompt you for changes to the files, accept these and it should work.

My fresh Ebox 1.4 install works perfectly with multiple Windows XP clients on a VMware Team, so the problem is probably related to some configuration setting.

There will also be some uncertainty in the near term with Zimbra.  It has been bought up by VMware....They are going to want some return on their investment I would guess.

Aside from those concerns, making eBox "Zimbra ready" would be a great leap forward.

Does anybody have specific complaints with eGroupware in this role (Exchange replacement)?  I would like to hear about real-world issues in this regard.

Currently eGroupware is not even close to being a proper solution on the groupware market.
It's lacking a lot of key features like:
1. Templating support to create a professional looking main-page (the default is horrible)
2. a decent integrated mail client (which is the key in groupware)
3. support for synchronisation like syncML
4. usability for non-tech customers.

Additionally, Ubuntu has now put Zarafa into their repositories (http://www.zarafa.com/news/6-feb-zarafa-collaboration-platform-packaged-ubuntu-and-fedora) pointing out that this is finally a fully functional soluton.

I think the best possible way to integrate groupware solutions is by creating a module which will link to various possible groupware packages, rather then creating a new administration module.
This can then be used as a sign-on passthrough so you only will have to login once. For monitoring and mail setup you would need plugins/addons developed by the groupware developer or by users of certain groupware packages.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: openvpn and firewall

at the VPN configuration there is an option to enable Client-to-Client connections, which exactly do what you require.
