Installation and Upgrades / Re: Bug with Zentyal 2.2
« on: October 03, 2011, 08:24:53 pm »
Hello,

Making the DNS 127.0.0.1 would be non sens except if you are having a DNS server on every client machine...

The DNS should be your DNS server IP.

e.g.
On a DD-WRT flashed router, the DNS IP would be 192.168.1.1 (like the gateway).

Also, please make sure that you are using "External" Interface otherwise it won't show up in teh resolv.conf file.

Hello,

Zentyal: 2.0
Browser: Firefox 7.0 (Ubuntu)

After adding a CIDR to a firewall (41.204.64.0/19), I'm not able to manage a part of it (Filtering rules from external networks to Zentyal) anymore.  All the rest seems fine...

Error given in the GUI:
An internal error related to a template has occurred. This is a bug, relevant information can be found in the logs.

Error from the logs:
2011/10/03 10:04:19 ERROR> Base.pm:346 EBox::CGI::Base::__ANON__ - Illegal division by zero at (eval 4224) line 721, <GEN43> line 15566.

Any clue on how to resolve this error ?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Problem vanished after restarting Zentyal from the CLI using:
Code: [Select]
/etc/init.d/ebox restart
BUT...
My last entry was gone too (no big deal on this one - I rather have to re-enter it compared to reconfigure the whole firewall)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Best,

Marcus

Bonjour,

Bruno a un bon point.  Il faut s'assurer qu'aucun chevauchement de plage IP ne soit faite.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: [VPN] Access to VPN server services
« on: September 16, 2011, 03:28:51 pm »
Hello christian,

Yes- I do confirm

The current setup is:

my desktop <-> router with the VPN client <-> gateway with a transparent proxy (Zentyal) <-> WAN <-> core (Zentyal)

** I managed to get around that problem but not like I was planning...

My workaround is:
my desktop sending an email using default port (25) <-> the router is forwarding port 25 to port 26 <-> gateway (zentyal) <-> WAN <-> Zentyal with a port redirection from port 26 to port 25

Marcus

Installation and Upgrades / [VPN] Access to VPN server services
« on: September 13, 2011, 08:58:43 pm »
Hello,

I tried configuring a VPN using a DD-WRT powered router.  This comes from the fact that one ISP is currently blocking some outbound ports.

VPN server setup and VPN client setup was very easy.  Up to that point, everything is working like a charm.

Still, 1 problem remains:
I can't access the server's services through the VPN.

VPN network: 192.168.160.0/24

Accessing the 192.168.160.1 is sending me to the Zentyal gateway that we have at our office (not the good one).

Any clue on how to proceed and make this work ?

Marcus

Installation and Upgrades / Re: hosts file and DNS resolution questions
« on: September 01, 2011, 10:22:05 pm »
Hello a.mcdear,

Regarding the DNS;
You are looking at the right place.  You simply have to add hosts and IPs.  Your network clients will use this DNS server by default.

** Make sure to block all other DNS servers in order to block clients that are trying to use other DNS servers.

Marcus

Hello Miquel,

Could you confirm 3 things?

a) Proxy is enabled and running
b) Firewall*, DHCP & Proxy logs are enabled
c) Clients are receiving their private IP

*Full logs from any sources & any destinations.

From that point, it will be easier for us to get you back on track.

Marcus

Hello Darky,

Please take a look at this post/thread:

You may find it much usefull...

Hello,

Are you using the Proxy ?  If not, you should...  That would be the proper way for blocking websites.

Otherwise you'll have to modify the hosts file on your clients computers (and that would be insane).

**Using the proxy will even prevent users of modifying their own hosts file.  It would also be smart to block other DNS service provider and only allow Zentyal DNS server.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Wifi Card On Zentyal
« on: August 23, 2011, 03:16:59 pm »
Hello Rotimi,

You may add a WiFi NIC to your Zentyal without any problem.

My 2 pennies;
You would be better using a regular RJ45 NIC along with a WiFi enabled router configured in bridge mode.  It would be more reliable, faster and easier to manage.

Marcus

Hello,

I had the same experience few hours ago with an up-to-date zentyal 2.1.

rebooted than Zentyal was missing.

Code: [Select]
sudo /etc/init.d/zentyal startstarted Zentyal, mail filter failed along with the mail module and still no admin interface.

Code: [Select]
sudo dpkg-reconfigure zentyalstill nothing  - not even an error !! :(

Code: [Select]
sudo /etc/init.d/zentyal apache restart... yay!  Zentyal admin interface is back  ;D

Everything was back to what it was (after restarting the mail service).

Hello,

Please have a look at this thread:

Pay attention to the SPF and PTR.  This will help you out much for not beeing flag like a spammer.

Hello,

Try turning on the logging on the firewall and see what it gives.

Hello aspangilinan,

We'll need more info regarding your issue...

Have you tried disabling the firewall ?
