Title: Installation failed?
Post by: pcegeek on November 16, 2009, 05:36:41 pm
After installing ebox on computer (using the entire hard drive for partition) upon reboot it asks to load from cdrom...I hit enter (since it is supposedly loaded onto the hard drive, install seemed to go just fine) I get "installation failed-unable to locate any package files, perhaps not a debian disc"

I am a complete newbie to ubuntu, but expert with dos/windows platforms. Any clue what I can do?

Thanks, Paula

The first stage of the installation is the Ubuntu Installer, after the reboot it comes the eBox installer. You have to enter the CD-ROM on the drive and press enter after it's ready. If you have failed to do this, you can execute manually /etc/rc.local to resume the eBox installation.

Upon reboot is there a installation CD inside? If not that's it. Installation is in two stages.

First stage is server install and the second is ebox install.

If installation CD is in CD-ROM it's a bad CD, burn another one. That happened to me couple of times.

José was faster :) But there is a CD issue also.

Here is excellent HowTo

Just another Tip you don't need to touch a CD during installation because at the end installation ejects it and at the beginning CD got inserted buy installation.
