Today i remove a "TestDC" from my Domain. On a Windows7 with RSAT I have removed all entries of this server. If i connect me with the DNS of Zentyal (4.0.10) then no entry of this "old" server is shown.

But my errorlog show me: "dns child failed to find name '79b21a2f-a284-477b-81c9-b8a564289b0a._msdcs.xxxx.lan' of type A"

I try to remove them with " samba-tool dns delete 192.168.100.90 UCS100030.lxxxxx.lan _msdcs.xxxxx.lan A 192.168.xxx.xxx -Uadmin" but the result is "ERROR: Record does not exist"

How can I remove the orphan entry? How can I do a DNS Cache Update? Or what is the problem?

BTW: I didn´t know the used IP of the DC anymore. I have them delete from with RSAT so I cannot see what I use

Yesterday a found a working solution:

* chmod -R 777 /Domainfiles <= I give all access to the directory with the data for the Shares
* Disable shares and recursice ACL on the shares definition in zentyal 4
* Activate shares and recursice ACL on the shares again

Now the users can access "Normaly" to the files again. I think that the upgrade from 3.4.8 to 4.0 have messed up some ACLs

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Zentyal 4.0 - No access to shares
« on: January 21, 2015, 11:23:16 am »
I have set today the Guest-Access. In the description is mentioned, that this option disable the ACL and everyone can access the share. But this didnt work.

Only users in the Domain Admin Group have access to the shares

If I try to change the permissons i found following error:
Code: [Select]
Samba.pm:1265 EBox::Samba::_postServiceHook - Error setting security descriptor on file PDFCreator/_5QBLJ~J.HTM: Failed to open: NT_STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND at /usr/share/perl5/EBox/Samba.pm line 1263, <GEN0> line 1673.

I have upgrade from 3.4.8 to 4.0 on weekend.

After the upgrade no user can access the shares anymore. Only users with the right "Domain Admins" can go to shares. But that cannot be the solution (is in moment my quick and very dirty workaraound).

How can I restore the Shares Permissions working?

On weekend I have migrate from 3.4.8 to 4.0

Most of them working fine. But the "Roaming Profile" is not working anymore. Everytime a user logon he is use a temporary Profile.

How can I fix it? How can I disable roaming and use a working feature for "roaming profiles"?

Solution: In the migration process the option "Use Roaming profiles" was lost. Reenable it is the solution

Hello to all,

we are using our zentyal only as domain controler and file sharing (Modules: Filesharing, Users & Computer , DHCP and DNS (ActiveDirectory))

Now we want to extend the infrastructure and want to use HA. I will install a fresh zentyal server. The actual version is 4.0.

Is it necessary to upgrade the current (old) server (3.4.8) to 3.5 or 4.0 or can they work together?

If i must upgrade is the process working fine? How can I find a working description of the upgrading process?

thanks for the tipps and helping informations

Installation and Upgrades / HA with Zentyal 3.4.8 / 4.0
« on: January 04, 2015, 07:13:54 pm »
I have a running Zentyal 3.4.8. I using only the Filesharing, Users & Computer , DHCP and DNS (ActiveDirectory)

Now I want to create a HA-Configuration. Is it better to install a second 3.4.8 or can I install 4.0 on a different PC and connect them to the 3.4.8?

The 3.4.8 is working fine - I have read that some users have problems after upgrade from 3.4.8 => 3.5 / 4.0

Very thanks for the needed informations

Installation and Upgrades / [SOLVED] 3.4.8: Roaming Profiles
« on: September 26, 2014, 08:06:17 pm »
I using by a customer of me zentyal 3.4.8.

Today I see, that some users roaming profile not works. Everytime the user login it shows that it be used the last local profile.

In Eventlog I found entry with the message, that the dirve is full (the drive have 800GB free!!!!!)

I found out that some users have two directories: one with username and one with username.V2. All users they missed the V2-Version have problems with roaming.

I check the user permissions. I delete the folder on server. I switch the profile from server to lacao and back - all this didn´t work. Can someone give me a hint, what the problem is and how can i solve it?

Hello,

since the release of Zentyal and OpenChange I follow the ongoing work here. I was happy to see in Featurelist of version 3.4 "Native Microsoft Exchange Server® replacement" and with the release of 3.4 i installed it on the servers of one of my customer. Install was easy and fast. Outlook connect to OpenChange - I was happy.

Then I start the configure of OpenChange and the trouble starts: No way to set Access Rights for mailboxes - No chance to setup shared Mailboxes. Everytime I allow a user to open my mailbox, after the saving the setting and reopen, the setting is lost.

Now I hope Zentyal 4.0 will solve my problems - but I must see: the actual implementing of OpenChance have the same problems in my installation.

I use much time to investigate the reason. So I found the "original" OpenChange/SOGo Website and they say, that shared Mailsboxes is working. Here in the forum much users say, that Outlook/Zentyal/OpenChange work fine. But I no see, if they use the shared Mailbox feature.

Till end of the next month i must present a solution for a new server infrastructur to a customer of me. Fine would be, if OpenChange works like Exchange. But I think, that the developer need more time to present a 100% Replacement of MS Exchange

Please say me: I´m wrong? Is the installation of me buggy? What are the correct way to setup the shared mailbox feature (a basic feature for companies that use Exchange as a mailserver)? Can some other user here confirm/dismiss my observations?

Thanks for your comments

Today I install a fresh Zentyal 3.5 and can reproduce the Problem. :-(

I found out that the retrieving of mails via fetchmail Crash the "RPC-Server". So I cannot Access the OpenChange via Outlook 2012 anymore. Everytime the fetchmail is running an deliver mail to my Mailbox the Crash coming.

My Installation is german Windows 7 64-bit with Office 2010 Home and Business (32-bit).

I would be very helpfull to confirm the Problem and Show a solution (Exchange-Cache is disable and don´t work for me). Second can someone help to configure the fetching of external mails. Which program is the perfect for zentyal ;-)

Thanks very much

I have a partial working domain on Zentyal 3.4

Now I want to upgrade to 3.5 - is it recommendet/possible to export the settings (like Domainusers etc.) and import in a new installation? Or what is the right way to do a fresh install of the DC?

My "old" System use Windows 2000 and Exchange 2000. I have 10 Users and 5 Usergroups. In Exchange have all users their own Mailbox. Additional we have 4 mailxboxes for Special Needs. I have create a usergroup "AllMailBoxes". In this Usergroup are all users. This usergroup is connect to the special-Needs-Mailboxes. All Users can now read and send from this Special-Needs-Mailboxes.

Now we want to Change to Zentyal. I have seen, that Outlook 2010 that is connected to Openchange 3.4 now allow to set Access rights to usergroups, only users can selected.

How can I set the Access right of a Mailbox to usergroups? Is Outlook the right tool or which tool is needed?
