Title: RPC service in Zentyal
Post by: ricardocenteno on October 26, 2019, 04:46:35 pm
Hello everyone.
I am having problem on Zentyal Server in file sharing feature because I want to use RSAT on Windows 10 1903 - File Server Resource Manager (FSRM) and am having the error of "RPC server is not available on computer ... This can happen when a connection cannot be established due to a block by Windows Firewall. "

I already made rule allowing everything in both Firewalls but to no avail has anyone experienced this problem?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Confessing my ignorance here...
Are you sure FSRM is supposed to work with non-native-Windows samba-based file servers?
I had a quick google-up and could not find a direct answer....

Here you have the tools which you can use to manage Samba from a Ms. Windows machine: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Installing_RSAT#Windows_10_.281809_and_later.29 (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Installing_RSAT#Windows_10_.281809_and_later.29) I think, as basselope, that it isn't compatible.

Cheers!

Got this suggestion when posting on reddit - maybe can help but still suggests the tool is not fully compatible.

"If the storage on the server running alternative Os is mapped as a local volume (e.g. iscsi target), then it can work. Not sure if mapped drives are supported."
