Installation and Upgrades / Re: MySQL 3.0 RC-1

I have installed two 2.2 rc1 machines and both have this annoying bug.
Another bug is after the setup, the network don't start because in the gateway page there are two identical default gateway.
When i remove one of two, the network start normally.

I'm now returned in this forum after a while and i 'm bit surprised to see that eGroupware was dropped.
I use it in my company from 2005 (version 1.0!) and i have many customers that use this product successfully. I know Zarafa, i like the web ajax interface and the ActiveSync compatibility, but there is one aspect that i don't like: the email messages are stored in proprietary format and not like Dovecot (or Courier) in standard Maildir format.

With Ebox/Zentyal 2.0 who will manage POP3/IMAP email messages? Zarafa with IMAP/POP gateway or still Dovecot?
If Dovecot is still the main IMAP/POP3 server and Zarafa is enabled, the messages received with both apps will be separated?
If send a message with Zarafa, wll i have in Maildir the same message in the "Sent" folder?

Regarding eGroupware, i think that have more advanced calendaring, addressbook and email functions that Zarafa, but for me is not a problem if it's not present by default in Zantyal, i can install later with the official ubuntu packages available in the www.egroupware.org.

For zarafa, i advice you install also this script to enable the LDAP Address Book:

Installation and Upgrades / Re: samba login too long
« on: June 30, 2010, 04:00:45 pm »
I have the latest stable 1.4 ebox (samba 3.4.5~dfsg-1~ebox1~hardy1). I don't use roaming profiles and i had the same slow logon problem with windows 7 but i solved with this guide:
http://blog.bigsmoke.us/2010/03/17/fixing-extremely-slow-domain-logon-windows-7

The only problem i have is that the home folder is not automatically mapped. Manually works well.
Upgrading to samba 3.4.8 solve this problem?

Thank you
Francesco

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Sogo and phpldapadmin
« on: March 27, 2010, 02:50:02 pm »
I have the same problem.
With ebox 1.2 I had been able to login in phpldapadmin with "cn=admin,dc=ebox" to make some customization on my ldap tree. But now that i have upgraded to 1.4 and ldap config is changed, i can't login anymore.
I see that now in 1.4 the openldap config is cn=config (RTC, run-time configuration), before in 1.2 was with static files in /etc/ldap.
I still must investigate, but perhaps the phpldapadmin shipped with Hardy does not support this type of configuration.

My problem was different. As you can see in the log i have posted previously, the directory /etc/freeradius/certs/ was empty.
I have setup another ebox test server, and when i have enable the first time the radius module, ebox asked me to overwrite the /etc/freeradius configurations and generate the certificates, but later this prompt never appeared, also after i have purged the packages and enabled/disabled the radius module many times.
So i have simply launched from console /usr/share/ebox-radius/ebox-radius-enable to rebuild the certificates and after freeradius started regularly.

With the query nothing is found. But /var/log/mail.log is regularly written.
SMTP filter query instead works nicely.
Some suggestions to restore the log in ebox gui?

Thank you
Francesco

I have a similar problem on a server upgraded from 1.2 to 1.4. The same server with the old radius ebox package in 1.2 worked perfectly (see my reply http://forum.ebox-platform.com/index.php?topic=2295.0)

The output of apt-cache policy freeradius is:
Code: [Select]
freeradius:
  Installato: 2.1.0+dfsg-0ubuntu7~hardy1
  Candidato: 2.1.0+dfsg-0ubuntu7~hardy1
  Tabella versione:
 *** 2.1.0+dfsg-0ubuntu7~hardy1 0
        500 http://ppa.launchpad.net hardy/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     1.1.7-1ubuntu0.2 0
        500 http://it.archive.ubuntu.com hardy-updates/main Packages
        500 http://security.ubuntu.com hardy-security/main Packages
     1.1.7-1build4 0
        500 http://it.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages

But radtest is absent (output is in italian):
Code: [Select]
Il programma «radtest» può essere trovato nei seguenti pacchetti:
 * freeradius
 * radiusd-livingston
 * xtradius
 * yardradius
Provare: apt-get install <pacchetto selezionato>
-bash: radtest: comando non trovato

I tried to start freeradius manually but in /var/log/freeradius/radius.log i have these errors because the certificates are absent:
Code: [Select]
Thu Mar  4 14:21:16 2010 : Error: rlm_eap: SSL error error:02001002:system library:fopen:No such file or directory
Thu Mar  4 14:21:16 2010 : Error: rlm_eap_tls: Error reading certificate file /etc/freeradius/certs/server.pem
Thu Mar  4 14:21:16 2010 : Error: rlm_eap: Failed to initialize type tls
Thu Mar  4 14:21:16 2010 : Error: /etc/freeradius/eap.conf[17]: Instantiation failed for module "eap"
Thu Mar  4 14:21:16 2010 : Error: /etc/freeradius/sites-enabled/inner-tunnel[223]: Failed to find module "eap".
Thu Mar  4 14:21:16 2010 : Error: /etc/freeradius/sites-enabled/inner-tunnel[176]: Errors parsing authenticate section.
Thu Mar  4 14:21:16 2010 : Error: Errors initializing modules

I tried to purge the freeradius and ebox-radius packages and then reinstall but i still have this error. Any suggestions?

1. Templating support to create a professional looking main-page (the default is horrible)
2. a decent integrated mail client (which is the key in groupware)
3. support for synchronisation like syncML
4. usability for non-tech customers.

1. I don't think the default idots egroupware template is orribile (jerryr, the one shipped with ebox, i agree with you!), perhaps it's lack of nice ajax interface. But for this you must track the developmente of tine20 (http://www.tine20.org), a very promising fork from some of egroupware developers: 2.0 ui and integrated ActiveSync.
2. the felamimail module of egroupware it's not a perfect webmail client, but the html emails are displayed decently and you can also setup multiple accounts on a single user. And with ebox 1.4, now that dovecot support sieve filters, you can setup vacation reply and other rules directly inside egroupware.
3. eGroupware support natively SyncML, many of my customers use it regularly with Blackberrys and iPhones. The upcoming release 1.6.003 improve this supporting SyncML 1.2 (http://k.noc.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6&Itemid=8)
4. perhaps you are right here

Thank you!

PS: a captive portal for wireless guests wuold be also nice, is it difficult to implement?

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Security for Egroupware

I advice you to manually upgrade to EGW 1.6.002 that solve many bugs present in the version 1.6.001 shipped with Ebox. We use in our company and i deployed also to many customers and works great.

I had this problem many times, not only using linux/samba but also in pure windows environment. Are you sure that dns server work correctly?
However the last time i have meet this problem, was when another samba machine in the lan had the same hostname of the domain...
To resolve these type of issue, usually i inspect the log of the server but also of the client machine (system events of windows xp).

I had the same problem on a fresh setup. I have updated the guide with the solution.
