After some restart and some manual update-upgrade the problem disappeared.

In any case there is some issue with the availability of this function:
escapeHTTPQuery is now present in the window.Zentyal object.

Nice day,
Rickyx

After installation of Zentyal development edition 4.1 I try to install some package:
select some components and click on install.
Wait a second for the confirmation box and click continue.

Nothing. Click again. Nothing.
Open che browser console ( F12 ) i see the error:
TypeError: Zentyal.escapeHTTPQuery is not a function

The same error in the system update ( function doUpdates(title) ).

Thank you,
Rickyx

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Error occurred while mounting home

More:
Edited crypttab (and fstab), as someone suggest, to use id or /dev/mapper name but it didn't worked.
Tried a LVM layer between the encryption and the partitions but, again without results.
Checked my disks with Smart and everything seems ok.

Installation and Upgrades / Error occurred while mounting home
« on: December 29, 2014, 12:36:16 am »
Hi to everybody.

I'm installing Zentyal on a machine with 3 hd: one for /boot and / , the other two in Raid1 for swap and /home. I would like to encrypt /, /home and swap.
I have tried several times with different partition layer (with raid, without raid, Mbr, Guid and lot's of other possibility) and the result is always the same:
I install Zentyal, I'm so happy and everything is working but...
But as soon as I complete the configuration and I restart the machine I receive the message as in subject: Error occurred while mounting home.
No other details or complaints. (Attached you see the screen.)

I suppose is likely to be Ubuntu related but I'm not sure.

In previous versions of Zentyal I used similar configurations and everything worked smooth.
How I can inspect what really is causing the error?
There are known problems with home encryption?

Thank you,
Rickyx

ps. I also tried to remove raid and using the second hd for "classic" backup and keeping only encryption layer: the error was the same.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Samba slow if gateway
« on: January 12, 2012, 12:12:36 am »
My istance is zentyal physical.

Anyway I solved the problem just inverting eth0 with eth1.

Maybe some configuration scripts, running not in the right order, may cause some incorrect value in some configuration files?

In sum, I disabled all interfaces, removed gateway, disabled dns and dhcp modules and started to reconfigure from the internal side using the same parameters as the image posted before.
Making all steps in the right order made:
  • reappear all the interface as possible gateway (yes, I didn't mentioned before, I had trouble because one interface was not listed in the form "add gateway", after removing all configurations that was solved)
  • work dns and dhcp
  • samba goes as fast as 10/100 permit !

Now I'll Qos.

I thank you for the help,
best regards,
Rickyx

Installation and Upgrades / [[Solved]] Samba slow if gateway
« on: January 07, 2012, 05:52:41 pm »
Zentyal 2.2.4

If I setup ONLY one interface and Dhcp, clients read and write fast on samba shares: 11 Mb/s on a 10/100 network.
If I setup Zentyal as the attached image client use samba around 20 kb/s. Internet is fast as it should be.

Of course I exclude any kind of hardware failure, network connections and card, hard disk malfunctioning.
Checked logs but I can't see problems that can be related to this behavior.

I have tried all kind of voodoo but I can't solve the problem.

Thank you for any kind of suggestion that can help me to solve the problem.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Ubuntu Desktop - Export Shares
« on: December 28, 2011, 09:17:24 am »
I got it working.

In the Tentative Zentyal 3.0 roadmap published I read:
"Zentyal Desktop for Ubuntu"
Maybe this will make that behavior easier.

Thank you,
Rickyx

Thank you for the answers.

The problem is that I try to emulate the same behavior that I get with netlogon scripts.

For istance, using a Window client:
my user Rickyx is able to surf on
- share1
- share2
my collegue Ada will surf instead on
- share1
- share3

This because netlogon is set "%U" (per User) and each user (or Group) has a different netlogon and can see different shares.

So, I can permanently mount password protected network folders, but how to make client behave as Windows and retrieve the right list of available shares for that specific user?

I hope you can understand, the sentence is quite contorted.
Thank you,
Rickyx

...can someone at least provide me the right keywords to look for it on web?
I could not find a good documentation on this topic.

Installation and Upgrades / [SOLVED] Ubuntu Desktop - Export Shares
« on: November 16, 2011, 01:37:48 pm »
Everything works fine with Windows clients.
Installed Ubuntu Desktop on a experimental Ubuntu workstation.

Home share is correctly exported.
How to tell Zentyal/Client to automatically export available shares for that specific user?

Tried to look aroud but I did not found a clear solution.

Ubuntu 11.10
Zentyal 2.0.23

Thank you,
Rickyx

Maybe I'm just a 'dumb' Microsoft admin, but how can you set a server to do automatic updates? IMO this is NOT a best practice. Always make a snapshot/break raid etc.... before you do anything to a server so you have an option to revert to previous situation.

However, great work to find the solution when the bad update has been applied...

You are 100% right.
I just scare to update server with one thousand patch more that small updates: if something goes wrong i feel more confident that I can solve the problem.

That is probably why I just fallen in the same issue...  ::)

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Post splash screen error: GLib-WARNING

Got the same message.
I was using firefox and console for ordinary log consultation.

Server is still running and I'm logged now in 6th text terminal.
Until I can't find a solution I'll wont reboot... but this is definitely a problem affecting Ubuntu and, obviously, Zenthyal. Is full of bug report of this problem.

Thank you,
Riccardo

edit: seems a plymouth issue. Now Zentyal use plymouth v. 0.82 and seems the "new" will solve the problem. Please include v. 0.83.

Installation and Upgrades / Unix permission of samba share.
« on: September 28, 2010, 09:48:47 am »
Hi,

i did like a mess changing permission, owner and group of samba shares. Now is fine but I'm not happy with having 777 everywere...

Witch is the default user and group that directory under samba has?
(Currently I'm away from office...!)

Thank you,
Ricky

Installation and Upgrades / Interface configuration
« on: September 13, 2010, 04:57:19 pm »
Hi,

my server has who interfaces eth0 and eth1. I set up from the Zentyal panel the following configuration:

eth0 (esternal)
address 10.10.10.11
mask 255.255.255.0
gateway 10.10.10.10

eth1 (internal)
address 10.10.10.12
mask 255.255.255.0

I edited /etc/network/interfaces I wrote the same configuration. Where Zentyal reallly store the configuration as, for what I understand, not in /etc/network/interfaces ?

And there maybe some problems internal to Zentyal that cause that I can't ping both interfaces?

Thank you very much,
Ricky.
