Installation and Upgrades / Re: share not accessible
« on: April 09, 2014, 07:19:06 pm »
I have changed the permissions of the folder oftenly. A group, another group, one user, more user ... Also tested with different folders and names. Folder in the file-system or folder under zentyal - always the same.
I think it's a problem with the configuration of the user authentification beween the zentyal ldap directory and samba.
But I haven't  the knowledge to find a solution.

Hello,

thanks for your reply.

I have created the share in the section "File Sharing" in the Zentyal GUI (Add new share). For example the folder Administracion with access for a group with the same name. I test it with rights for different users, groups etc. Normally I want the access only for a group.

I have tried it mostly on Ubuntu 12.04 with "mount -t cifs //share mountpoint" and different options (user, password, sec,uid ...) nothing works, always permission denied.
But if I set a user with smbpasswd on the zentyal machine it works.

Installation and Upgrades / share not accessible

Hello,

I try to mount an zentyal - share on an ubuntu-machine. But get always mount error "permission denied". After creating a samba-user with smbpasswd it works. Why it's not possible to have access with zentyal-user created in the user-management? Must I always create a separate zentyal-user and samba-user?

Code: [Select]
authsam_search_account: Couldn't find user [domainadmin] in samdb, under DC=DOMAIN,DC=lan

Installation and Upgrades / Re: mount cifs don't work

That are no good news, and it seems for me  Zentyal is not useable. Perhaps with professional support but I think if the community edition don't work confidentially the support cannot change so much. In a mixed environment with windows and linux machines it don't work good enough for production states.

Installation and Upgrades / mount cifs don't work
« on: April 02, 2014, 01:04:13 am »
Hello,

I have a problem with mounting a share from the zentyal server.
with:
sudo mount -t cifs -o username=<server_user>,password=<passwd>,uid=<localuser>,rw //<server_ip>/<share_name> <mount_point>

I only get the response: Couldn't chdir to <folder local>: Permission denied

or from another client:
mount error(13): Permission denied

I have tried changing a lot of options - other user, suid, cruid, netbios-name, domain  ... always the same result. Also changing the rights of the local folder, another path ... - useless.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks,
Christian

(Zentyal 3.3, Ubuntu 12.04, amd64 - also the clients)

Hello Christian,

it's rigth but I use a test server and so it's not so critical. But I cannot use a production server if I can have critical problems.

After a time I cannot connect to the user corner anymore. The gui said only:"An internal error related to a template has occurred. This is a bug, relevant information can be found in the logs."

The log says:

[error] 1391#0: *8 connect() failed (111: Connection refused) while connecting to upstream, client: 192.168.10.106, server: , request: "GET / HTTP/1.1", upstream: "http://127.0.0.1:60080/", host: "192.168.10.214", referrer: "https://192.168.10.214/Dashboard/Index"

Has someone an idea? It's a very important thing that the server works confidentially and it's possible to work with it!

Hello,

If I try to access the user management, it's written an error message on the screen

"An internal error related to a template has occurred. This is a bug, relevant information can be found in the logs."

as result I have no access and cannot change any user-setting.

The error log says:
[error] 1391#0: *8 connect() failed (111: Connection refused) while connecting to upstream, client: 192.168.10.106, server: , request: "GET / HTTP/1.1", upstream: "http://127.0.0.1:60080/", host: "192.168.10.214", referrer: "https://192.168.10.214/Dashboard/Index"

What can I do?

Installation and Upgrades / User rights of shares don't work
« on: February 21, 2014, 04:03:10 pm »
Hello,

I try to access to a shared folder. In the file sharing section I have created a share with an acl and give it for example all rights for all  user.

But if I mounted it (with cifs) I see always "rwx --- ---".

What happens here? Why cannot change the rights with the acl?

That works. Restarting nscd brings the group information up-to-date. Now I can create some scripts which mount shares, install drivers etc.

I think it's a chance for zentyal working in a mixed environment but perhaps their ressources are to small.

It seems the problem with the group management is not the server. On the server the changes of the groups worked at once. For example the id command at the server gives the changes directly.
Only the clients don't recognize it. Perhaps it's a problem with the synchronization of the local system.

I have tried a ldapsearch but it's too difficult for me. I cannot construct a ldapsearch which gives me the group-memberships.

Hello,
it seems that the express version of centrify only make the authentification at the AD and not home-directory, custom-shares, printers etc.
And I'm working in a hospital in the mountains of peru and we don't have a great budget.
And at last it seems Zentyal server is more for windows as for linux clients.

in the moment I work with a workaround.  Installing in a netlogon directory shell scripts and execute it from the local user for each group. But the problem is that zentyal server needs a lot of time for updating the ldap-database.
Getting the group membership with "groups xxx" (the user) needs two hours before it delivers a new group.
Or "id user" gives me the groups but it need a long time until it gives a new membership from the server.
Has anyone an idea how increase the speed of this?

Hello,
thanks for the fast response.
centrify seems to work but 65 USD /workstation is a little bit too expensive.

What happens if I add a bash-script in the GPO-Editor? Can I manage bash-scripts for users or groups in zentyal-server?

Thanks,
Christian

Installation and Upgrades / GPO logon script on linux
« on: February 19, 2014, 02:31:32 pm »
Hi,

is there a possibility to execute logon scripts from the group policy editor on linux machines? For example with winbind or somthing else.
I search for a possibility to preconfigure ubuntu machines with printers, shares etc. group dependent.

It will be nice to use the same mechanism as with the windows clients.

Thank you very much,

Christian

Installation and Upgrades / upload printer driver
« on: January 23, 2014, 09:58:12 pm »
Hello,

does  someone knows why the printer drivers, copied from a windows machine to the zentyal server disappear very fast?

I can see that the upload works but after it they will be removed. And the driver installation later on the windows machines failed with the message "No driver found"
