To export and import users and groups, you can use the information contained in the official documentation on how to perform the process.

Before performing the process, take into account the limitations section as well as the warnings in case you have the mail module installed and enabled.

Before applying the fix, make sure that there is not any lock file related to the DNS, you can do this as follows:

my zentyal ad controller went out today. A power outage crippled the server and now I can´t load the web interface and I seem to be unable to get dns (bind9), nginx or samba services restarted.
things I tried
1. tried to restart some services, some I was able to restart, other just simply hang
sudo zs dns restart - hangs indefinetely
sudo systemctl restart - hangs indefinetely
sudo systemctl start zentyal.webadmin-nginx.service worked ok
sudo systemctl start zentyal.webadmin-uwsgi.service worked ok
after issuing the last commands I get a 504 ngnix error when trying to load the page
2. I figure I'd try to update the system but that didn´t help
first of all sudo apt update was not able to connect without dns and for some reason I didn´t have a default gateway but that I was able to resolve by adding the gateway manually with sudo ip route add default via <gateway ip> dev eth0, so I can ping out to an ip address but i haven´t be able to figure out how to get dns working.
I did an sudo apt autoremove -y.. but this process gets stucked at 99% after restarting zentyal module webadmin
3. I read I could try to reconfigure the packages so I did sudo -configure -a but that get's stuck in configuring zentyal-core (7.0.9)...
4. I tried to lookup some info in the logs
- zentyal.log shows nothing that may lead to a resolution.. no error in particular
- syslog shows some error related to samba and dnsupdate_nameupdate_done failed dns update with exit code 1
- software.log says there's an issue connecting to local mysql server through socket /var/run/mysqld/mysql.sock' when processing package zentyal-core, I tried to restart mysql and and that did work as well as this command: mysqlcheck -u root -p$(cat /var/lib/zentyal/conf/zentyal-mysql.passwd) \
--all-databases
5. try sudo dpkg-reconfigure zentyal and the same for bind9 and the command completed with no error
but when I try to do sudo sudo zs dns start it hangs.. and when i try to do sudo systemctl start bind9 it fails with code exited status =1/failure ... failed to start Bind Domain name server
and journalctl -u bind9 shows no entries
6. samba (smbd) appears dead.. and when I try to do sudo systemctl start smbd if failed after sometime (it times out)... checking sudo journalctl -u smbd says failed to start samba smb daemon but nothing that would tell me why.
I tried to check samba with samba-tool dbcheck -cross-ncs and --fix and all appears good but if I check if the service is up and running with sudo systemctl start smbd It fails and I get a message that smbd.service is masked as the reason. I tried to unmask it but still not able to get the service up and running again.
I looked at var/log/zentyal/zentyal.log and I get something that says
'ldap.::safeconnect - fatal : could not connect to samba ldap server connect permission denied at /usr/share/perl5/ebox ldap.pm line 219, found this post https://forum.zentyal.org/index.php?topic=35172.0
, I did as suggested but I can't still start bing9 or samba

When I set up network interfaces in webadmin, the automatic gateway is there and network works but when I restart, it's simply gone and I need to reconfigure or manually add route..
Only "solution" I came up so far, is to add the ip route command to rc.local and hope IPS won't change my IP.. :/

I have a feeling that this has something to do with accessing SOGo from different subnets...
For the time being not even the workaround from AleSanchez works, only a reboot... and only for a limited amount of time.

Installation and Upgrades / Migrate users from Zentyal 6.2 to 8.0

We have an old Zentyal 6.2 server with many users. It currently functions only as an LDAP and DNS server. Is it possible to migrate the users and groups to a newly installed Zentyal 8.0 server? Our settings are minimal, so migrating just the users and groups would suffice. This would be faster than performing several upgrades to reach the current version.

Portuguese / forçar a eleição para PDC
« Last post by juliocp1976 on July 30, 2024, 03:48:47 pm »Ola. alguém sabe se tem como forçar um parâmetro para SAMBA que sempre o %logonserver% sera um ou outro servidor. Situação de 4 servidores com Zentyal 7
SRVDC01 - é para ser o primário
SRVDC02 - secundario (replica das gpo's)
SRVFS01 - servidor de arquivos 1
SRVFS02 - servidor de arquivos 2
Nem sempre as maquinas windows logon no SRVDC01 ou SRVDC02 que tem as gpo's. Ai quando ele logon pelo servidores de arquivos 1 e 2 não aplica as gpo's, pois neles tem faço a sincronização, pois não é a função principal deles como no DC01 e DC02
Sabem se tem como forçar sempre o logonserver pelos DC01 e DC02
algum parâmetro no samba que eu force quem é principal ou forçar a eleição sem ser automática no samba

Directory and Authentication / 3 different user profiles for win7, win8, win10 clients? How to prevent that?

I am using Zenytal 7.0 and I have several users. If one of the users logs in on any Win7 client, saves some data to e.g. "downloads", "my files", makes a thunderbird profile etc.etc., his changes are seemingly lost when he logs on into another non-win7-client (i.e. win8, win10 clients).
It seems that for the user profiles, Samba is creating a "user.v2" directory for Win7-clients, "user.v5" directory for Win8-clients and "user.v6" directory for Win10 and Win11 clients.
That all means bad luck for the user profile if the same user decides later on to log in to a windows client with a different windows version than the last one.
Is there anything I can do , especially on the Zentyal (samba) server, to make user profiles more functional across different windows versions so we do not have to re-create the profile data every time the user changes to a windows client which is different from the last one?
