Installation and Upgrades / Webadmin not Accessible [SOLVED]
« on: November 05, 2019, 01:14:53 pm »
Trying to access the webadmin page and getting a page not found error. I have verified nginx is running and I can access the default page handed out by nginx. The port is shown as closed when I run nmap and I have run zs webadmin restart and the command runs with no errors. Checked both the error logs for zentyal, nothing shown or listed for this process. Also checked the logs for nginx, same thing nothing in the logs, as far as I can tell.

Any suggestions on what to look for, check or some more troubleshooting steps I can take would be appreciated.

Installation and Upgrades / No Web Admin - V5
« on: February 02, 2019, 04:31:11 am »
Recent update to the core of ubuntu caused the lost of the web admin interface, actually lost all web accesses. The update removed bits and pieces of apache so I got it back and running thought I would be good to go, or so I thought. Still no running instance of web admin interface. Run namp against the server shows port 8443 open but in a closed state, nothing listening. Spun up another instances of Zentyal and low and behold no apache but it has nginx and operable web admin interface. My primary instance also has nginx.

So the question is how do I get the web admin interface running on my now primary domain controller? On my test zentyal instance looking at nginx /conf.d and /sites-enabled directory I don't see any reference to a zentyal web admin, how is this configured to run?

Getting following message when attempting to open the webadmin interface after login.

Cannot write to '/var/log/zentyal/zentyal.log': Operation not permitted at /usr/share/perl5/Log/Log4perl/Appender/ line 245

Initially found I had run out of space on the / drive, but have resolved that problem but I'm still getting the above message. Restarted, from the cli, DHCP\DNS they are now working, tried to restart logs, did not resolve the problem. What caused me to run out of space on the root drive was ips module and logs it was filling. as an example the stat.log was well over 10 gig and there where others in the same directory. I have stopped the ips service\module for now and rm the stat.log until I can get above resolved ips will remain stopped. From what I can tell the permissions for the log in question same as all other logs in that directory -rw-r--r--.

Email and Groupware / [Solved]Openchange Start Error
« on: October 23, 2017, 02:34:09 pm »
Need some advise here, openchange, email in general, is not starting and when I attempt to start it get the following error message zentyal.log. Not looking for resolution just need some help pointing me in the right direction to solve it.

Running Zentyal 4.2.11 on Ubuntu LTS 14.04 fully patched. Thanks in advance.

If I enter $hostname get no response but command hostname returns correct results.

In addition I'm also getting this error in the log;

Installation and Upgrades / IPV6 Forwarding Support
« on: July 20, 2015, 02:45:29 am »
More of a comment then issuing a new problem.

My ISP is in the process of rolling out IPV6 addressing, so in anticipation of this change I attempted to put in OpenDNS IPV6 address in DNS > Forwarders using 2620:0:ccc::2, when I attempted to save the new address I got an error, Invalid value for Forwarder: 2620:0:ccc::2.

This may not be a huge problem as ISP will provide DNS servers but I would much rather use OpenDNS as I really don't want to land on my ISP search page for failed address lookups and OpenDNS is much faster. Yes I know that zentyal is supposed to use top level DNS servers but that doesn't always happen.

So the question will Zentyal support or allow IPV6 addresses?

Installation and Upgrades / Re: DNS Lookup Error[Solved]
« on: July 14, 2015, 11:22:49 pm »
DNS lookup on my local network fails when attempting to ping or use any other type of services based on host name. It is a mixed environment using Linux and Windows machines. I am using version 4.1.2 of zentyal on Ubuntu 14.04 all patches are up to date. Under Network > DNS search Domain it is populated with my internal domain name, under DNS Enable transparent DNS cache is enabled, forwarders are defined, and under Domains I have domain.lan and defined, .lan has internal only IP address with zentyal server for hostname while .org as WAN IP only address and * and www for host name. Also have under DHCP Dynamic domain enabled.

Thoughts or suggestions?

Installation and Upgrades / [solved]E-mail Error
« on: February 16, 2015, 05:29:48 am »
When attempting to send an email from webmail I am getting this message;

Cannot send message: All Recipients are invalid

When I try to use Thunderbird I get

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded:  4.3.0 <>: Temporary lookup failure. Please check the message recipient

Outlook also returns a similar response and it doesn't matter if its an internal mail address or an external address.

Preform a nslookup of mx record I get the following;

Same result for external look ups also. This why I am getting errors when attempting to send emails?

Thanks in advance for your help.

When attempting to send mail I am getting message;

Cannon send message: All Recipients are invalid

Just started, how does the mail service validate address?
How do I test to determine what isn't working?
Firewall is on, appears to be working properly.
Doesn't matter if it is an internal address or an external address.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Installation and Upgrades / [SOLVED]Firewall Rules
« on: February 10, 2015, 02:45:36 pm »
Have my zentyal server set as my firewall into my network, I had the firewall rules setup and working including port forwarding. Yesterday it stopped, sort of. I have two primary servers that are accessible from the outside, one is a lamp server and the other zentyal. I can still access the Lamp server but all requests to the zentyal server are dropped, no response. As a troubleshooting method I set all  four packet filter configuration settings to forward all packets, no filter rules. I also set port forwarding to do the same with all port requests. Basically this server is wide open, but still not able to get a connection, as an example SoGo web mail.

The Lamp server is accessible and severing up web pages, that's not an issue. Based on this I firmly believe the firewall rules on zentyal are "broken". Any suggestions on how to reset the rules? Rather not have to dump them all then reset them. Found this script on several web sites, but it would replace all my current rules requiring a reset of them?
iptables -F
iptables -X
iptables -t nat -F
iptables -t nat -X
iptables -t mangle -F
iptables -t mangle -X
iptables -P INPUT ACCEPT

Really like to hear some thoughts\suggestions on how to proceed please.

Installation and Upgrades / Virtual Web Hosts
« on: January 20, 2015, 12:13:11 am »
Trying to setup two virtual web hosts in Zentyal, one for SOgo second for OwnCloud. Has anybody taken a run at this? If so some pointers would be nice, I can ride the bike but need to be pointed in the right direction. One of two problems I have encountered where is the SOgo root web directory?

I'm also wondering what if any mod's would be needed for apache2.conf as there are some lines here I believe need to be commented out and replaced. Specifically IncludeOptional conf-enabled/*.conf and IncludeOptional sites-enabled/*.conf

the goal to end up accessing these two sites by

Installation and Upgrades / Samba DNS Crash
« on: April 28, 2014, 04:30:49 am »
Recent problem has emerged, I was able to join my Win 7 laptop to my domain after doing a clean install of Zentyal and I have it fully updated. When I attempted to join any other PC/Laptop/Server, it is a mixed environment, I am getting message unable to contact domain server. Dashboard is posting message /var/crash/_usr_sbin_samba_dnsupdate.0.crash. Mail is no longer running and mail clients are unable to contact the mail server, only thing working is webmail.
If I restart the server all works, for a short bit or if I manually restart File Sharing and Domain Service I get the crash message right away.

In short Samba DNS is crashing, any thoughts on why?

Crash report is attached.

Installation and Upgrades / openchange crashing
« on: March 21, 2014, 03:33:49 am »
Openchange will stop working, when I attempt to restart the service using the web GUI it will not start, what I found in the log;

2014/03/20 21:20:16 ERROR> EBox::SysInfo::CGI::RestartService::_process - Restart of OpenChange from dashboard failed: Can't locate object method "enableInnoDBIfNeeded" via package "EBox::MyDBEngine" at /usr/share/perl5/EBox/ line 451.

Any thoughts on how to rectify? I can down the server and bring it back up again but will only last five minutes before openchange is again down.
Running Zentyal 3.3 on Ubuntu 12.01 of course.

Installation and Upgrades / Joining Existing AD Domain.
« on: January 19, 2014, 11:42:49 pm »
Initial configuration wizard step asking "Enter your active directory settings" I'm getting the following error message;
Invalid DC hostname BHome.local; it must be in the same domain that the Zentyal server. Current Zentyal server domain is BHome.local

Help please.
the error message above is a copy and paste. Also first attempt to join I used my "Admin" domain account, the password uses a ! character, apparently that is an illegal character? I got an error message that "the input contained an illegal character", had to change the password and not use any illegal characters.

Installing from a flash drive, get zentyal splash screen, choose first install option, proceed to the next screen background turns purple. When install is complete and after a reboot I get a bash screen with a command prompt/login prompt, no GUI. Attempt to launch web browser to server, times out no connection can be made.

Safe to say my experience installing Zentyal is significantly different than presented at;

Thoughts, help, suggestions?
