Installation and Upgrades / Re: Zentyal Development or Commercial
« on: April 26, 2021, 05:54:22 pm »
Just updating because I came across this post after looking through my history.  I haven't been on these forums in years.  I starting using the community dev server in production 5 years ago and haven't had a problem since.  I'm moving to 7 and had a few questions that brought me here.  Zentyal is good software.

Other modules / Enabling IDS/IPS stops internet on interface
« on: April 26, 2021, 05:48:36 pm »
Zentyal 7.0

Enabling the IDS/IPS module on the outgoing ethernet interface disables internet traffic.  Has anyone seen this happen before?  Any ideas?

Other modules / OpenVPN inconsistent network access
« on: March 20, 2016, 01:03:44 am »
Stood up a Zentyal 4.2 server setup as my internet router.  We are going to use OpenVPN for remote access users.  I set the OpenVPN dns server as my router since internet DNS is setup through DHCP/DNS.  Here comes the inconsistency.

Pinging IPs or dns hosts through my vpn comes and goes.  At first everything pings fine and then it stops.  Sometimes after a minute it will come back and then leave again.  Anyone else experience this?  Anyone else know of a fix?  This is with running OpenVPN as an administrator.

Example.

I'll ping 10.15.20.183 and it will fail.  I'll try immediately again and it will work?

no replies after several days.   :-\

I've decided to stand up a Zentyal 4.2 server

Installation and Upgrades / Zentyal Development or Commercial
« on: March 16, 2016, 10:50:33 pm »
What is the benefit of Commercial?  Does the system lock up after the trail period?  Request a license and no longer work?

What is the down side of development?  My server will be used for relatively simple requirements and may not need support.

Thanks for the info.  The website wasn't clear.

Currently using Zentyal 2.2.9.  Haven't had an issue for a long time until now.  DNS resolution is down.  DHCP works and IPs are handed out but I cannot nslookup them.  Cannot ping by hostname.  I would like fix this issue and then upgrade to Zentyal 4.2.  I'm willing to purchase tech support but cannot figure how to does this via the Zentyal.com website.

Any help would be awesome!

Installation and Upgrades / PPTP Install in Zentyal 3.2 [Solved]
« on: September 23, 2013, 09:57:12 pm »
I searched google and can't find the answer.  Is PPTP VPN available in Zentyal 3.2?  It seems to be missing.

I'm looking at the install screen shot and not seeing the PPTP option.
Zentyal 3.2: http://www.zentyal.org/wp-content/uploads/software_selection.png
Zentyal 2.x: http://doc.zentyal.org/en/_images/scr1.png

Notice how PPTP was listing before.  What up?

Edit:  Finally found the answer here: http://forum.zentyal.org/index.php/topic,17928.0.html.

2.0 to 2.2 migration went fine, no errors listed from the script.  Noticed today that my Proxy service is listed as stopped on the dashboard.  Starting it doesn't keep it started although I get a successful start message.

The ebox.log shows this:

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Cannot Access Mail Server Behind Zentyal
« on: November 21, 2011, 09:34:49 pm »
Is the mail server up?
You can ping?  If you can ping, can you telnet into the mail server?

example
telnet mail.ip.address 25

This is not a firewall issue, sound like a DNS issue.

You can't connect a VPN while already behind the gateway, i.e., vpn's don't work inside the network.  They allow secured access from outside the network, mostly over the Internet.  If you want to be able to enable/deny internet access to customers/workstations on your network then use DHCP & firewall configurations.

VPN isn't the answer

Has anyone experienced problems importing their Zentyal 2.0 settings into 2.2?  I've setup this on a test VM and all my settings seem to have come over.  I get one error with the firewall monitor but everything else seems fine.  I think I can fix the firewall monitor issue.

Is the Import/Export Configuration tool intended to be used this way?
Anyone else doing this?

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Security Add-On not working
« on: June 10, 2011, 12:15:52 am »
Thanks for the hint.  Seeing the IP threw me but I understand the VPN connect now.  Restarting the vpn service fixed the issue.  Things like apt-get update now work.

Installation and Upgrades / Security Add-On not working
« on: June 04, 2011, 12:33:42 am »
I have a Zentyal License and Security Add-on License.  I set this up in my online area and now i see security options in my Zentyal setup.  When I go to update my system update list I get an error telling me to try it in terminal.  When I run 'sudo apt-get update' in terminal I get errors towards the end.  These errors are specifically for the repo added by the ebox-qa.list, ie those added by my security subscription.  I've attached pics of both errors, any ideas?

Thanks, I need to find a place that lists out the latest changes found in updates.

Installation and Upgrades / Zentyal DHCP
« on: March 21, 2011, 11:08:15 pm »
I have an issue with DHCP Fix Addressing in Zentyal 2.0.6.  Last week my fixed addresses listed 100 long and were working fine.  Today I look and I have only one listing, fixed-addresses-eth1.  With a description of 'migrated fixed addresses'.  What migrated them?  Were did they go?

Did some update happen last week that caused this?  Can updates cause this?
