Installation and Upgrades / Will aptitude updates break ebox?
« on: January 21, 2009, 12:29:00 pm »
i'm a bit worried if i do "sudo apt-get upgrade" and allow it to upgrade everything it wants for ebox, that things are going to get broken. for example i've edited my /etc/postfix/main.cf file amongst others.

can someone tell me for sure whether or not it'll be ok if i let "apt-get upgrade" run loose?

for the moment i've just been updating each package one at a time, leaving the ones for ebox

cheers

i want to tell my ISP that my ebox will be the MX for emails for our domain. I'm new to this but read that i need to open up port 25?

Before opening the ebox email server to the world i thought i'd check to see if it is possible to send emails via telnet.

to my surprise i can, and wasn't in any way stopped! what's worse is i can send emails from any name@domain.com.

how can i stop this?

I have TLS and and SSL activated and mandatory in the ebox admin.

Installation and Upgrades / Certificate Manager problem
« on: January 05, 2009, 12:40:15 pm »
I've been having trouble with certificates, specifically when connecting to the IMAP server on clients, with a warning saying the that hostname doesn't match what's in the certificate.

So i removed all certificates with the intention of creating new ones, but somethings broken  ???

i'm at the Certification Authority Management section and fill in the organization name, and days to expire, click create, but nothing happens and i get kicked back to this screen again.

any ideas on how to rectify this?

thanks

Installation and Upgrades / email catchall account
« on: November 20, 2008, 03:04:00 pm »
Hi, me again  ;D

everythings now up and running the way i like it now (yay)

i just have a quick question regarding email accounts.

is there a way to set one account as a "catch all"? either through the ebox interface, or by manually adjusting a config file somewhere?

my boss wants to recieve every email sent to the domain, but the users will still need to recieve the email that's marked for them.

thanks :)

Hi,

got a few issues i need some help on.

I'm setting up a new server in my company to replace the old windows 2000 server that is currently the local domain controller and file sharer (and must stay that way until the new one takes over).

the DNS settings i've set on the ebox i've intentionally made different from the current DNS server on our network. the old one is company.local and new one is company.co.uk as i'll be wanting email to go straight to it from the internet, and sent to my colleagues.

in the DNS section i wasn't sure what to put in hostnames, so just put the hostname of the new ebox server, and it's fixed ip address.. in mail exchangers i've set to the ebox hostname too

so here's my problems:

I cant get a client to join the domain. putting in company.co.uk says "a domain controller for the domain company.co.uk could not be conatacted".

i also cannot send/recieve email with outlook. it just continuously keeps asking for a username and password even though i'm putting them in correctly.

finally, a file sharing query:

i've got 2 pairs of RAID arrays in the server. the first set is a 300g mirrored array, and i want to keep just the operating system and ebox install on this. the second RAID array is a 1TB mirrored array, which I want all emails, home folders, and the shared directories to be. How do I tell ebox to use my /media/files directory to store such data? is there a config file for ebox i can edit?

Many thanks
