Directory and Authentication / DNS Records for kerberos and AD

Hi Guys,
I am evaluating Zentyal and I already have Linux DNS Server where all my records are configured even that iDNS server is specified on everyone's desktop.
Hence it would not be advisable to chagne the DNS at each and every desktop to add those in AD or Zentyal PDC hence can someone please suggest me what are the records needs to be added in my DNS server so that desktops can be added in Zentyal PDC?

Installation and Upgrades / Users are not getting authenticated with Zentyal using LDAP

Hi Guys,
I am trying to integrate Zentyal with CheckPoint firewall and my LDAP tree is properly fetched I am able to see the users properly. Basis on that I added rule on firewall and testing it through Captive Portal but somehow users are not able to to authenticate.
Would you please advise where do I look for Samba4 LDAP logs? Plus If I have created user with user1 and first name User Last Name One then my login DN would become? CN=User One,CN=Users,DC=test,DC=dom? or just user1?

I am planning to use RADIUS with my wifi setup since zentyal 4.0 is already deployed as a AD in my organization. As I believe 4.0 have dropped RADIUS support and keen to know if that module later can be added in 4.0 and used with user, groups we have created?

Installation and Upgrades / Share drives from Windows AD are not getting connected when znetyal is in ADC
« on: January 07, 2015, 07:33:40 pm »Here is my scenario. I have windows 2008R2 DC which is 172.16.1.10 and I hav built 3.5 as a zentyal ADC which is having IP of 172.16.1.100. The sync is absolutely fine and everythign works as it should be, . The windows server is acting as DNS as well as DHCP.
I also do have Windows based file server IP as 17.16.1.20. Everyhign works properly when Windows AD is up but I take down AD and entire suff is movd to ADC .bat files configured does not get run hence share or map drives does not get connected on client machine.
What troubleshooting can you refer me to?

Hi Guys,
I have built ADC using 3.5 and its perfectly synced with AD. But the one issue I faced is drives which are mapped with AD does not get mapped when AD is down. Can I get any help how do I troubleshoot the said issue?

Installation and Upgrades / Promoting Zentyal ADC against 2003 ADC

Hey Guys,
I have 2003 AD installed and since msoft is going to stop the support soon I really do not want to pay to msoft for up-gradation to 2008 instead I am thinking to put up Zentyal ADC, sync up with AD and then decommission AD and promote zentyal as AD.
Does this plan sound OK? Can someone suggest me things which I should be aware of in this process? Or does anyone have a detailed procedure about it?

Hi Fellas,
I am trying to implement split domain Zentyal with zimbra and from zimbra end everything works fine the main issue I am facing at this moment is from Zentyal end.
I do have a zimbra installed currently and I am setting up other plain zntyal server at the moment and wondering what needs to be done at postfix end so that mails from Zentyal users to zimbra will be routed back to zimbra.
i.e mail.example.com [zimbra] usrzim@example.com
zen.example.com [zentyal] usrzent@example.com
Well currently all me testing works fine

Hi Guys,
Have any clue if zentyal 3.5 supports Outlook 2013? I have around 25 users who are currently using Zimbra Paid edition and I am planning to migrate them to Zentyal but would need to know if 3.5 does support Oulook 2013? Plus How do I migrate users from zimbra to Zentyal? Do you guys have any plans?

Hi Guys,
I am desperately looking for the help on split domain in zentyal and zimbra. My scenarios is like this and would appreciate the comment
My domain is assume example.com. I already have zimbra server running for 80 users and I am planning to put zentyal as well so that zimbra and zentyal can share the domain and route the mails as appropriate so that I can start moving my users onto zentyal.
Domain - example.com
Zimbra server - zimmum.example.com
zentyal - zen.example.com
Both will serve same domain called example.com, So does anyone have any clue how do I implement the above split scenario.

Hi Guys,
In my setup I have windows 2008 as a AD server and later I added Zentyal 3.4 as a ADC server. The sync up worked fine everything tested ok now we are moving on to different domain altogether and for time being I need to remove zenyal based ADC and the entry should disappear from windows AD as well. Does anyone have any clue about it? How do I remove ADC or what is the recommended procedure for removing ADC eventually the same should get removed from Windows AD set up as well.

Hey Team Zentyal,
Since zentyal has been declared as SBS server wondering how many max users it can support in different roles? I mean would like to listen from Team zentyal is upto how many users you guys think SMB environment is?
Lets say I am gonna deploy AD only module for 1500 users for just plain authentication, will it sustain?
Or 1500 openchange users
or 2000 users for file sharing with no AD [AD deployed on other server]
What do you say guys?

hey Guys,
Message/Calendar/Contacts are perfectly getting synced with Openchange and I did not find an issue but I particulary have 2 doubts and I would really appreciate if someone can shed light on it
1. Can we sync signature as well from webmail to Outlook and vice-versa?
2. Can we really configure zentyal mail module in hybrid with zimbra? As some users will be on Zentyal and can avail complete syncing while rest will be on zimbra? Also which MTA does zentyal uses?

Not sure if this topic is already covered but I went through the search and didnt find any traces hence would appreciate if someone can help me here.
I currently have zimbra server running for 150 users and planning to roll out zentyal 3.4 for almost 30 users now the question would like to ask here is how do I configure shared domain name space with zimbra so that users can co-exist on both the servers.

zimbra = mail.example.com [192.168.1.15]
Zentyal = zen.example.com [192.168.1.20]
userzim@example.com is on Zimbra server while userzen@example.com is on Zentyal server.
