Title: User's corner non existant
Post by: alecaru on July 19, 2014, 03:50:17 pm
Good morning;
I'd like to let the users to change their password, but on Zentyal 3.5 I cannot find the User's Corner option anywhere, neither the module to install.
Please help!

Hi all, I cannot find the section where to set the "mail retrieval from external account". By removing the user's corner, I have lost the possibility to set that option! Thank you guys!

Its not great but fetchmail is still on the system.

might be enough until it is added again

crtl+alt+del change password

What about Zentyal configurations that aren't running as a domain controller? I.e., POP/IMAP only systems?

Don't think you can have pop/imap without users which is part of samba4

Thinking about it I guess I understand what you mean that you would have a server that isn't an PDC or ADC.

Even though its already there as a DC.

Its a good question I suppose but Zentyal is supposed to be a M$ SBS replacement and it wouldn't be the norm.

I feel your pain @ alecaru.  I have users that login to retrieve and send mail or access to owncloud.  They have to contact me for a password change..  Plus you going to get that user that claims you did something becuase you know their password.  Don't need that headache.   :-\

Because samba4 is central and each DC or ADC or member server is all replicated then the crtl+alt+del change password will populate across all users / directory.

I think its an advantage to be this way. If owncloud is setup via ldap then this will also populate.

I am hoping Zentyal create a delegated user manager based on group settings based on dsacl's.

As a sysadmin I begrudge many user activities that I believe are actually a HR function.

Part of the delegated user manager would be that a user can access his own details.

So hopefully it will be part of the future after all this openchange development has calmed down somewhat.

Count me as one of the sysadmins that do not use OpenChange and therefore now have to handle password change requests manually. I don't see how UserCorner could possibly conflict with whatever OpenChange operates such that it has to cease to exist.

Any updates here? i have installed zentyal solely for having my raidus with user portal/corner just to find out you removed it. Question: any alternatives to zentyal that can do it?

I'm interested too. There are some valid alternatives to user's corner? It's useful for roadwarrior users, that can't do ctrl+alt+canc
