Installation and Upgrades / Multiple NICs on the same network?
« on: May 25, 2017, 01:04:47 am »
So I'm running a fileserver with a virtualized asterisk machine.

I have two nics, one plugged in directly to the dual WAN router the other into the main gigabit switch.

In order to keep latency down I want both nics on the same network. The one bound to the virtual machine is plugged into the router to keep latency down. The other for the fileserver is plugged into the gigabit switch to keep file traffic from clogging up the router.

The problem is that every time I try to set the second nic on the same network IP Zentyal gives me an error that both can't be on the same network.

Any way I can disable this error.

Installation and Upgrades / Adding linux user to zentyal samba shares.
« on: February 18, 2015, 01:00:46 am »
So I have a HUGE issue with no real resolution.

I'm running the server version of dropbox to sync things to a samba share. However, any time the sync completes all items are read only to the samba user.

Is there any way to add a linux user into zentyal to set the permissions for samba? I've check the forums and found so many people looking for a possible solution.

This seems like a HUGE drawback. Not being able to run applications like SSH, Dropbox or any other application as a linux user using samba shares.

Is there any way to manually set the samba permissions without using the Zentyal interface?

Zentyal version: 3.0.32
Ubuntu version: 14.04 x64

This seems like an absurd bug.

Using Zentyal 3.0.32 on Ubuntu 12.04 lts x64

So we had a network card go bad due to a power surge. Now Zentyal, not only takes forever to boot up.The entire system is broken and changes can't be saved because of the missing interface. This is crazy! Please somebody help me remove this. It's nowhere in the configuration. I have no idea how to resolve this.

Code: [Select]
Some modules reported error when saving changes . More information on the logs in /var/log/zentyal/
Interface eth2 does not exist.

Installation and Upgrades / Need help adding current user to Samba Group
« on: December 09, 2013, 06:55:21 pm »
Where are the config files stored?

I am trying to add the main user to the samba permissions. This is the same user that is entered into the main Zentyal login. Why is this user not listed in the Samba users and shares?

This seems absurd. Please let me know if it's possible to add the main user to a users group or manually set the users permissions within samba.

So I have a strange issue. I've got the transparent proxy setup. However, in the proxy settings there are no categories defined.

Yet when I do a search for proxy servers and porn it gets blocked... Where do I change these settings? I wasn't even aware you could block by keywords. The exact message I get is:

Weighted phrase limit exceeded.
    Access Denied.
Categories:
Proxies

Under HTTP Proxy > Categorized Lists
There is nothing. Where are these settings coming from?

So I have an issue. I'm trying to sync file systems on different servers. The only issue is that the Unison runs under the main user. Is there any way to add an existing user to the samba permissions group? Right now with the sync I'm having issues with Unison not have permissions for certain files.

I tried adding the user through the control panel but I get an error that says the user is already created. How do I get this user to show up and give them the correct permissions.

One one server I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 Zentyal 3.0
The older server is Ubuntu 10.04 Zentyal 2.2

Thanks for your help.

Installation and Upgrades / Any way to Disable SPI?
« on: October 04, 2011, 05:04:40 am »
So my client has a phone system from 8x8.

First of all I DO NOT recommend them. They are awful.

Secondly they are claiming all our phone system issues are because of SPI. Is there any way to disable SPI in Sentyal this and test to see what is going on?

There is also a SPI in the Comcast modem we are using but that has been disabled from the start.

We are having some strange issues with Port Forwarding.

Internally we are able to get it to work.

We are running a Virtual machine with the IP 192.168.77.5 on the ebox server. Ebox internal IP is 192.168.77.1

However, externally it does not work.

eth0: internal
eth1: external
service created for port 8080

Packet Filter: External Networks to Zentyal Allow Service "Port 8080"

Port Forward:
     Interface: eth0
     Dest Port: 8080
     Source: any
     Dest IP: 192.168.77.5
     Port: 80

Any help would be appreciated.

Installation and Upgrades / GroupOffice Integration
« on: February 22, 2011, 01:41:34 pm »
Has anybody tried using GroupOffice?
http://www.group-office.com/

It has been successfully integrated with ISPConfig since it is mostly just Apache driven. It should be easy to install in a Zentyal system.

Here is a demo to check out:

Installation and Upgrades / Virtual Machine Manager
« on: February 22, 2011, 01:16:46 pm »
There are a slew of different Open Source technologies available. Especially in the area of servers and office management.

I see a lot of projects try to expand their functionality and in many cases the project development slows down because resources become scare and plagued with bugs.

Especially one of the best tools would easily be a web based Virtual Machine Manager for QEMU or any other open source VM.

Just imagine being able to easily add functionality to your server by downloading a Virtual Machine and setting it up through Zentyal. Adding different Voip Distros, Thin Client, Exchange Server and many other possibilties.

Then Zentyal development can focus on LDAP integration between VMs which would allot Zentyal to spend more time improving the core and adding necessary functions and leaving users with an easy way to expand their own functionality.
