Installation and Upgrades / Re: Jabber IM setup
« on: January 30, 2012, 04:47:03 am »
Hi Remon,

    Actually I have no Idea just deleted the module and reinstall it and it just worked. Anyway they are testing it so I will know if there are any problems. Space is not a concern as they are prepared to invest into storage as they need all chats to have records. But want to know if used as it is, will they be able to delete their own chat history on the server?

TIA Eric

Hi ctek,

   Thanks for taking the time to reply. I think Jabber is broken in zentyal and cannot work atm. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next version.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Vitualisation Of Zentyal 2.2
« on: November 15, 2011, 03:51:52 pm »
I use debian squeeze and XEN 4.0.1 and run zentyal 2.2 on it with pfsense, elastix, zone minder and all with pci pass thru. Internal LAN I get an average of about 50-70 MB/s transfer rate and full 10Mbps internet, serving about 10 - 15 users and VPN. My system runs on

            AMD Phenom II X6 1075T
            Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5  <----------  (Has IOMMU enabled in BIOS)
                  2 x Realtek 8111D chip (10/100/1000 Mbit) <---- (onboard)
                  2 x SATA II 3.0 Gbps
                  6 x SATA 3 6.0 Gbps
            PCI-e Realtek 8111D chip (10/100/1000 Mbit)
            2 x 500GB HDD SATA software RAID1 for boot and VMs
            6 x 2TB HDD SATA software RAID10 for Data for the VMs

Running 24/7 no problem so far. Also all are running in HVM mode. About being slow is only you have enormous amount of I/O will virtualized servers bog down. Otherwise its quite fast and easy to administer. I mainly use zentyal for file and print sharing.

Installation and Upgrades / Re: Caught SIGILL on Xen-64bit
« on: April 06, 2011, 06:06:24 pm »
I have upgrade all my XEN servers running 4.0.1 Debian Squeeze and have no problems running Zentyal in HVM mode. Also I had it running on Debian Lenny with XEN 3.3.2. If you are using EXT4 in Zentyal you need at least XEN 4.0. All my Dom0 and DomUs are running 64bit. I use pfsense 2.0 rc1 as my firewall and router which is also a DomU. I have two of these machines running production in two companies with no problems or downtime. I do suggest that you dedicate cores and about 2GB ram to Dom0 as it help with IO quite a bit. If you are trying to run PV mode with EXT4 you must use XEN 4.0+.

Goto www.x2go.org and also check out their mailing list at http://news.gmane.org/gmane.linux.terminal-server.x2go.devel. This is a very good solution and works for printing and sounds too.

Installation and Upgrades / DNS problem
« on: December 15, 2010, 03:28:47 pm »
Hi all,

    I am getting a bit confused here about setting the DNS with MX records. The thing I need to do is that I have a zimbra server running and I can't resolve the MX record to it. I am using pfsense as my firewall and using zentyal as samba and now DNS. Here is the DNS from dig :-

; <<>> DiG 9.7.2-P3 <<>> example.com MX
;; global options: +cmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 48267

I have entered all this from the GUI in zentyal and not editing the files directly. Also is there a way to point directly to an internal address?

Hi all,
    Just wondering anyone can make vsftp interact with ldap so that whatever the user can have access to samba will have same access from ftp?

Hi all,
    Got it to work now. Just had to add a few lines to do it.

     pasv_enable=YES
     pasv_max_port=51000
     pasv_min_port=50000
     port_enable=YES

Hope this helps others

Hi all,
    Anyone know how to enable passive mode in vsftp without breaking it with zentyal? Or a better way of doing it?

Tks in advance
Eric
