VPN Tunnel between Ebox and Linksys RVS4000 possible?
« on: January 11, 2009, 07:50:21 am »
We have Linksys RVS4000 routers connecting our two offices via an IPSec tunnel. They're flaky at best, and I'd like to replace them with Eboxes, but I need to set the sites up one at a time. It's crucial that the tunnel stay up between the two sites, as time clock information is transferred between them on a daily basis, and can only be done via IPSec. Is it possible to have an Ebox at one site and the RVS4000 at the other site with an IPSec tunnel between them? I'm pretty new to Ebox and OpenVPN, and the little time I've spent with the two doesn't show me an easy way to do this. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a workaround.

What about this: place your eBox machines behinds the routers and create an openVPN to connect each other, do some tests to see how it behaves and if you feel that everything is working ok, just disable the ipsec tunnel and add the necessary routes...

Problem is, I can only do one at a time right now, until I have proof of concept. I only have one EBox, so I need to find a way to connect its VPN to the router's vpn. I don't have a second computer yet to set up another EBox. If I did , this wouldn't be a problem.

Yes, for testing you can use viortual machines.

As for ipsec, there is not support in eBox so if you want to use it in eBox you should install it manually.
