Windows 2000 and file sharing
« on: January 14, 2009, 12:11:26 pm »
Hi,
I have Ebox running on an Ubuntu 8.04 server. It is file sharing and almost all the clients are running Windows XP and can connect to my shared folder without problem. However, there is one user that is running Windows 2000 and if he tries to connect to the server on his machine, he gets the message: "Windows cannot find \\ubuntu\shared". Can anyone offer any suggestions please?
Thanks,
Patrick

On another forum, I read a suggestion about setting the following registry key in Windows 2000:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkStation\Parameters
Add value EnablePlainTextPassword = 1

but this didn't seem to have any effect, my eBox samba share can still not communicate with Windows 2000. Does anyone have any ideas?
