[SOLVED] Installation to USB drive fails
« on: December 03, 2011, 07:46:33 pm »
Hi, I installed the latest Zentyal 2.2-1 with unetbootin-563.exe on a usb-drive.

I was able to boot it on the server and choose installation, but it does stop installation, when it is loading files from cd and says it is not able to find a cd.

at expert install I could see, it was looking at /dev/cdrom .

I will get a usb cd-drive now, but this may be something worth fixing.

Greetings

edit:
same problem with zentyal-2.2-1-amd64.iso burned to a cd and started on the server via usb connected sony optiarc dvd/blu-ray drive.

"Cannot read file from cdrom"

Trying to run dvd check:

"This is no official ubuntu disc"

edit2:

I tried again in virtualbox and got the same messages, I then waited until the kernel was loaded to add the usb drive to the virtual machine and the installation works so far.

Very odd behaviour: you need to unplug your usb drive to load the kernel and install files from cd.
(this time I used the iso, so no interference with my usb-cd-drive)

Yes, unplugging the usb drive until right before hdd detection works
