Core items
« on: November 18, 2011, 06:37:14 pm »
I have recently installed ebox and trying to learn what to do here.  I am in the help and see that there are many items to the menu.  I only have Dashboard, Module Status, System, Logs and Events.  Should these be there or do I need to install them?  If I need to install them how do I do that as right now there isnt much to this program?

Thanks
Keith

Hi I_wolf69,

I'll found the documentation section a good starting point for my questions. Check http://doc.zentyal.org/en/

I just read the install and I did not get all those options.  Is there a way to install all the options, such as firewall and dns service, after the install has been completed?

I would like to enable the dns module but there is no where to enable it!  How do I enable it?

How have you installed Zentyal? Do you have the zentyal-software package installed?

When i do a installation i have Dashboard; Module stat; System; Maintenance and Software Management. Then i skipped the installation of profile. So you are missing the Software Management module. You can install this module via the Linux command shell (terminal).

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install zentyal-software

Go to software management, then zentyal components

Select 'BASIC VIEW'

and you will be able to install the 5 different 'roles' of zentyal

If you want to install just 1 single package, click 'advanced mode'. Then you get a list of each available zentyal package to install.

After you have installed the packages, you have to click the red 'save changes' button in the upper right corner.

Be aware that after installing and saving changes, you have to activate each module in the 'Modules' section of the dashboard.

I suggest to do a lot of reading in the documentation section
If you need more info, I advice to buy the zentyal for admins book in the zentyal store.

Maybe the problem is he's using the packages in the Ubuntu repositories instead of the official Zentyal PPA? In the Ubuntu packages the software module is not included...

That might be the case.
