Total Noob question
« on: December 21, 2008, 05:40:56 pm »
Hello, thank you in advance, for any assist.
Im sure this is a completely stupid question, but here goes...
I've dabbled with several Linux distros in the past, and will soon be setting up an ebox server for a customer's
network.
Im looking to familiarize myself with Ubuntu and ebox at home 1st. I prefer KDE for desktops on Linux, and Im
curious to know before beginning this,if ebox installs/is compatible with Kubuntu,or does it need to be a straight Ubuntu for install? Are there any differences or dependancies I need to know about?

Hi jeff@am,

eBox installation is not primarily intended to be installed in desktop computers, but in server ones. We have not tested eBox within desktop environments but only with Ubuntu server edition. However, there are people in the community who has installed eBox with Ubuntu desktop. They have reported some issues with network manager, so it'd better to uninstall network manager prior to installing eBox on Kubuntu.

Best regards,
