External retrieval service won't start
« on: September 05, 2011, 06:41:22 pm »
HI,
I'm new to Zentyal, and have a little Problem. I've installed Zentyal 2.2RC1 on a machine. Everything was fine. Then I had to reinstall Zentyal, and now, the External retrieval service doesn't start. I downloaded the newest Image 2.2RC2, but the same. In the Dashboard it still says: Modul stoppped. When I push the start Button nothing happend.
Can anyone help me to fix it? External Mail is a must have for me....

Thx and greetings from Germany

Joschi

Oh, I forgot: In the User's Corner, if I want to configure external mail, it says: Firefox can't find the server at mail. And the adress in the adressbar is: https://mail/View/ExternalAccounts

is you client accessing "mail" via proxy and is proxy able to solve this name?
BTW, same question is valid even if proxy is not used.

No, there is no proxy involved.
I can access the User's Corner by https://localhost:8888 and there is no problem, only if i try to configure the external mail.

Hoops, I'm reading now URL you try to access.  What's this???
How to you obtain this?
I mean http://mail/anything can't be reached except on intranet with some specific name solving.
It looks like FQDN is missing here isn't it?

Well... I will try to describe the way, I want to configure the external Mail:

I go to the user's corner with this URL: https://localhost:8888
I type in my username and password.
On the left side there is a link for external mail. i click on the link.
And then it shows that firefox can't reach the server, and in the adressbar the URL http://mail.something appears.
I don't write it in there.

What matters here is the "http://mail.something".
I'll check on my test server later this evening but:
if URL is made of one single "host" name, FQDN is missing for some reason I still don't understand.
if you have URL pointing to http://service.server.com that cannot be reached, it's more matter of name resolution.

When you're not connected locally on Zentyal box, how do you reach it? using IP address or some name or alias?
BTW, is DNS up and running?
