A couple of file sharing question
« on: September 29, 2010, 02:07:28 pm »
1) I have set up a shared folder and enabled guest access. When I browse using an XP machine I can see the server but cannot logon using "//Server/guest". How do I set up the server to allow unimpeded access to the share? In other words...I want a guest to be able to open the server without a password and open the share without a password.

2) I set up a share, group and user. Added the user to the group and added the group to be able to access the share. The share does not have guest enabled. I am able to logon and use the share as expected. There are also other shares that show up:

Quote
ebox-quarantine
ebox-internal-backups
<share user folder>
<my share>

I don't need/want the share user folder at all it will never get used.
I don't want the automatically created ebox folders to be visible that the user will never use. They will just confuse the user.

How would I keep the automatic ebox folders and the share folder from showing when the user browses? Can this be done using the interface?

It's an old question but I just encountered the same issue. If anyone can provide further information it would be great.
