Zentyal 2.01 egroupware "Your session could not be verified."
« on: October 20, 2010, 04:20:30 pm »
I have a installation of Zentyal 2.0 on a production server (cd from zentyal.org), we uses it as a gw. and hopes that we can use it as a mail/groupeware server to.

when i try to login to http://localhost/egroupeware i get "Your session could not be verified."
Domain= test.net
user=test
pass=test

i can login to http://localhost/webmail with no problems

have been searching around on zentyal forum and google for a whole day with no resoults, mail, egroupeware, users/groups, virtualdomain, imap, sql etc. have been removed, installed and reconfigured more then once but i cant find the problem.

all services is turned on, and the system is installed with all the latest patches.

i can read from egroupeware's forum that this is a function that protects from session hijacking, and i want that to work.

sudo /usr/share/ebox/ebox-unconfigure-module egroupware
sudo apt-get remove  --purge ebox-egroupware
sudo apt-get install ebox-egroupware
sudo /usr/share/ebox-egroupware/ebox-egroupware-regen-db
sudo /etc/init.d/postgresql-8.3 restart

droot@dg-zentyal01:~$ dpkg -l | grep "ebox-"
http://paste.ubuntu.com/516831/

ebox.log
http://paste.ubuntu.com/516830/

I would be grateful for all the help i can get.

On my installations of eGroupWare this seems to mean simply that a login is required--there is no existing valid session. Can you log into eGroupWare without problems?

I only wanted to let you know that egroupware is not officially supported anymore:

http://trac.zentyal.org/wiki/Document/FAQ#WhydidyoudropeGroupwareAndwhydidyouchooseZarafaasgroupwarereplacement

In fact we will very soon move the egroupware package out of the official repository to a new "contrib" one for modules only supported by the community.

I understand your opinion, but have you tried to access the calendar/addressbook from zarafa with a kontact client (KDE4 korganizer or kaddressbook)?

I would say, that that is not possible at the moment!

Of course zarafa is still a "young" module that does not have all the features we will like to have. But it will be improved in subsequent releases. It would be great if anyone could contribute with a HOWTO on integrating zarafa with kontact, it will speed up things a lot ;)

Yes, that would be fantastic, but

so far i know there is only a way with kontact and groupdav and that is NOT provided from Zarafa!

Note that the KDE PIM suite requires GroupDAV, which is not provided by Zarafa

Those are bad news... hope they add the support in a next version.

this is from egroupware site
http://www.egroupware.org/index.php?page_name=wiki&wikipage=ManualAdminUiconfigIndex

"
Check IP address of all sessions: This security feature prevents sessions from being hijacked by verifying whether the session is emanating from the same IP. Does not work necessarily if the attacker is using the same network.
Switch this off if users are regularly thrown out randomly: "Your session could not be verified".
"
When i used a valid user i get this message, when i dont i get "wrong pass".
After a total reinstall i can now login to egroupware, but the message is still there.

I vant to upgrade egroupware to 1.8 that have lots of bugfixes, will it have any affect on zentyal when i add eGroupware repository ?

Note that the eGroupWare security feature you're talking about can actually log people out during use. That's a different case from coming to the login screen and seeing that message. Since I log out of eGroupWare at the end of the day, I see that message every time I visit eGroupWare the next morning. There is no valid session since I logged out, and I must log in again. You would see the same thing if the session expired (since it's possible to log in for specific periods of time in a stock eGroupWare installation).

Since eGroupWare is no longer support by Zentyal and Ubuntu (apparently), I would be concerned about dependencies in the case of eGroupWare upgrades. It may install fine for 1.8, but it seems to me still a risky or problematic action in the long term. If you are committed to using eGroupWare, my personal suggestion is to consider running it separately from Zentyal.

I think you have right about the sessions and egroupware with zentyal is bringing me loads of trouble :-\

the server is in use, but we have to move egroupware to another server later.

i have a problem with mail now...

mailsetup is like this

external pop > zentyal mailserver > replicates to egroupware

but if we would like to use the zentyal/webmail interface we get

"Connection to IMAP server failed."

i dont have the server here now so i cant post logs sorry
