Modify openVPN module to push DNS servers
« on: October 15, 2010, 10:43:54 am »
As per my post http://forum.zentyal.org/index.php?topic=3667 on 'configuring DNS so VPN clients can access the internal DNS' I'm going to try and modify the openVPN module to allow for push options for DNS servers to be set.

I've found the openvpn.conf.mas file and I'll work out how to add the vars for push options... then I guess I'll have to work out how to integrate it with the rest of the system!

Code: [Select]
robdyke@xw4600:~/zentyal/openvpn$ more stubs/openvpn.conf.mas
I'll let you know how I get on.

Cheers.

Hi there,

From what I think, you must modify OpenVPN module to get the information about the available name server resolvers from Network module and add a configuration setting to push the nameservers from your LAN or not.

You may also change the server configuration to push custom name servers but it will be less integrated than using the network module to get the name server resolvers from there.

Best regards,

If you're connecting with Windows machines, I'd suggest using the LMHOSTS instead
