[SOLVED]Using MS VPN trought zentyal
« on: September 13, 2010, 07:22:32 pm »
Hi,

I installed Zentyal as a DHCP server and Proxy this week end. Zentyal is the greatest thing I found since the iPhone!

Work great except that this morning when I tryed to reach my office trough VPN oops! Doesn't work!

My laptop is Windows XP with MS VPN client. The Laptop is between the Zentyal server and the router.

How can I solve this issue? Is it possible without putting my laptop in a DMZ?

I found something at
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B314076&x=16&y=11
Client ports           Server port        Protocol
1024-65535/TCP   1723/TCP                PPTP

But even if I configure a VPN service with that range of port in firewall => internal network it can't reach my office network!

All service I try doesn't cross the firewall... very secure! I tried also to put a rule for tcp 995 for outlook to get a yahoo mail but it doesn't work nether!

Look like there is something I don't understand with firewall!

see post http://forum.zentyal.org/index.php?topic=4938.msg20309#msg20309 my configuration is not valid for a gateway. I still need to test if the MS VPN can cross the firewall with the right configuration.

Is what you call MS VPN a PPTP server?
In that case GRE packets must be handled by the firewall...
