Content filtering not working
« on: September 07, 2010, 10:25:21 am »
Hi all,

I just did a zentyal clean install (was previously using eBox), changed content threshold to "very strict" and also added the lists from urlblacklist which I edited and changed to Deny,Filter etc.

Unfortunately when I test it using my daughter's username/password to authenticate to proxy, I can visit ANY site although the threshold is "very strict" and porn/violence/drugs categories to "deny".

My previous ebox installation was working fine.

Am I doing anything wrong?

Thanks

Looks like I had to set the proxy port of my browser to 3129 which is the dansguardian port according to dansguardian.conf.

It's working now

You might want to consider using two network cards for zentyal. One to connect to the router and the other leading to your clients to act as the gateway. Then you can block port 80 forcing all web traffic to be filtered through dg. Although, your daughter may not be as determined as my clients to see what they shouldn't ;)
