how many of you guys are on 64bit system? i think that this might be the main cause of those symptoms..

If it is possible to install each module at a time and see which one(s) is causing the problem. This would actually narrow down the problem. I have installed many times and have not run into the problems you are having but I mainly use XEN. To be honest the installation went smooth but was not stable on speed initially. After a few days running it kind of ironed out. Also there were updates in between and maybe that helped? I am using 1.4-2. Don't have spare machines to try stand alone install.
