Lost access to GUI (have IP, can ping)
« on: June 23, 2010, 01:25:00 pm »
Stupid question here sorry, but how can I easily reset the network config?
I have dhcp enabled on eth0 and can ping the interface, but cannot SSH or access the web GUI any more.  It's a headless server, so no gui to test locally either.
Last I remember I tried to give eth3 a static IP and set a DHCP server range, which went out eth0 to my xbox, so must have worked to some extent.  But since then have not been able to get on to the GUI. Anyway, tried manually setting a static IP on eth1 but no help either (from a directly connected PC). Getting very frustrated. >:(
So what's the cleanest way to reset it all? purge ebox and reinstall it?
Thanks.

note: also saw "use of uninitialized value in string eq at /usr/share/perl5/EBox/Network/..." somewhere, but forget which screen/output/log  :-[

Seems to me a firewall problem, you can stop it temporally with:
/etc/init.d/firewall stop

Log in and make your changes,

Thanks.
Having some network problems too, so decided to take a risk and try to purge the ebox-network (and associated) package, rebooted and could then access the box again via SSH. Reinstalled ebox-network and a few other packages, and back to working as expected.
Will look carefully at configs before I try and mess with any other interfaces this time :\
