LDAP users can't stay logged in
« on: June 21, 2010, 07:48:37 pm »
Hello, I have succesfully setup ebox on ubunutu 10.04. I could add users, and everything seemed to be working on the server.

However I am having trouble logging in with users that I create, I have a feeling this post might be better suited to the Ubuntu forums... but I was wondering if there is anything extra I have to configure on the ebox side of things.

I can see the ldap server by performing an ldapsearch, however I cannot get the clients to authenticate against the server. After some poking around I noticed that if I tried logging in to the server with the ldap accounts, I would get immediately kicked out of ssh. This also occurs if I try to login to the server manually with them.

Any insight would be appreciated.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LDAPClientAuthentication

With eBox 1.4 the system doesn't get the LDAP users, this is going to a configurable option coming for 2.0.

If you install ebox-samba and change the key login_shell to a valid shell in /etc/ebox/80samba.conf, the new users you create will have a valid shell and be able to log in.
