No Antivirus Tab on File Sharing

Hi,

I install ebox-1.2.6 on my Ubuntu Hardy 64bit machine. I noticed the Antivirus Tab is missing in the File Sharing section. This was not the case on my 32bit installation of ebox. How come??

No, I did not.  I thought just like the 32bit installer, samba-vscan will be automatically installed by default. Should I install it from Ubuntu repo? Any configuration required to make it work with ebox?

Having the samba-vscan package installed is a requisite for the samba antivirus. If you did choose the samba package during the installation the samba-vscan package should have been installed. You can try to install it manually (apt-get install), from the eBox ppa repository. I think no special configuration is required.

I had a similar problem months ago (on another post). No special configuration is required, once the samba-vscan package is installed, the tab appeared.

I installed the virus scanner on ebox1.3.16 and found no way to scan for virus on the shared samba folders hosted on the server.
Having read the above I installed samba-vscan and rebooted (nothing showed up under file share before the reboot).
Why does samba-vscan not install when you install the scanner if it is needed to work with file share? (or why does the antivirus tab under UTM not mention you need the extra software?) (or why is it not installed as part of the default file share install?)

Thanks to this thread though I now can scan for virus :-)

on a system running 1.4.3 I have just installed samba shares and antivirus - still no samba-vscan package gets installed so you have to do it yourself.
