[Zentyal 6.1] Upgrade SOGo version to 4.2

Hi,

I have a Zentyal 6.1 installed and running. Unfortunately there is a frustrating bug in SOGo 4.1  https://sogo.nu/bugs/view.php?id=4874. This bug is resolved in SOGo 4.2 so I need to have at least this verison installed. Is it possible to upgrade SOGo verison without upgrading a whole Zentyal version to 6.2? I would prefer avoid upgrading Zentyal to verion 6.2 becouse every verison upgrade is such a pain and never goes without problems. This is production server and I can't afford taking it offline for hours to solve potential problems.

Don't try it. You'll break the Zentyal packages integrity and, probably, will unchain the horror of the Dependencies Hell producing the advent of Cthulhu.

If you are a skilled sysadmin you could check the code that fixes the issue in the new versión and prepare a patch for the old one. Some times this is really easy and other times really stressful.

Do you use the development version? I have upgraded a couple of them and I had no issues.

Remember fixing all existent issues on your 6.1 version before upgrading, update all the Zentyal and system packages, and run the script.

There was a time where the real men did these tasks without preparing a backup (when people did programs by switching wires connections)

We need to prepare a backup in order to avoid the catastrophe (the snapshot is the greatest invent since the fireworks)

Yes, I use the development version. In March I was upgrading this server from version 4.2 to 6.1 (4.2 -> 5.0 -> 6.0 -> 6.1) and I must say that at some point I was losing hope that is doable. After 8 hours finally I've done it. Without having this virtualised on Vmware, without snapshots I wouldn't even think about upgrading it.

To upgrade only one minor version should be comparatively painless.

  Okay, I've done it. 6.2 arrived almost without problems. Simple dpkg --configure -a was enough to resolve this. Thank you for your support.
