DDNS and VPN over cascade routers
« on: May 10, 2020, 04:13:41 pm »
Hello everyone.
I'm planning to setup a test server and would like to have it on a different network to my home network. So I have second router (ASUS RT-AC87U) I would going to setup in a LAN-WAN cascade with the second router on a separate subnet.
I'd like to confirm with anyone that might have done this before about port forwarding and VPN. Namely as the DDNS will require port forwarding. Should my primary router forward to my second and then to the server? Or have both point to the IP/MAC address?
Also I'm not very knowledgeable of VPN. So having VPN on a separate subnet to the primary router has unsure about a lot.

Any help would be appreciated, and thank you.

Hardware details
Router/Modem Zoom 5360
Second router ASUS RT-AC87U
Server Lenovo TS130
