Correct syntax to deploy user home directory to a FreeNAS share?
« on: February 10, 2020, 04:43:56 pm »
Hello,

My two Zentyal domain controllers are not rsynced and have limited storage space - the second really is inly a basic virtual machine in case something happens to the physical server.

Would it be possible to have Zentyal pointing each user to a home directory under FREENAS_SERVER\COMPANY\USERS\ ?

The FreeNAS server is joined to the domain and in regular use, just not for the home folders.

 :) basselope,

I think that it should be possible.

I'm interested in this kind of stuff (I think we can bring samba closer the high availability requeriments using some basic technics as a correct planing of the disks and the filesystem mount points plus RAID plus LVM plus/or RAID ZFS, for instance ). I'll do some experiments this weekend and post here the results.

This could be useful: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/User_Home_Folders#Introduction

Cheers!
