Mail migration from 4.2 to 5.1
« on: May 11, 2018, 10:56:56 am »
Hi,
I have to migrate emails and attachments from a 4.2 mail server with zarafa to a 5.1 mail server, is it possible? is there a migration/import procedure to implement it?

simple trick?

compress and transfer the following folder: /var/vmail/[domainname]

here are all mails and attachments stored. For calendar / AdressBook usr the sogo-tool for a quick backup ;-)

Regards

Thomas

First of all thanks for the reply,

the problem is that zarafa doesn't store e-mails in MailDir format but in a MySQL database so transferring the folders doesn't help me.
Eventually I solved this way:
- Access the old server via IMAP in Outlook.
- Export messages to the ".pst" file.
- Access the new server via IMAP in Outlook.
- Import emails from the ".pst" file.

I hope this can be useful for others with my problem;)

Greetings,

Riccardo.

I am just seeing this now.  You could use imapcopy to migrate large numbers of mailboxes.  Zarafa has a switch to disable authentication which helps a great deal here.  I used this same methodology to move about 700 mailboxed from IceWarp to Exchange via Imap.
