S.M.A.R.T. monitoring

ebox keeps getting better all the time, but there's one thing I miss in the current release: smartmontools! You see, I've had too many drives fail on me, so I'd at least like to be notified if one is about to go down.

The same goes for mdadm, which is there for software RAID purposes.

It would be nice if there'd be a little option to configure the basics right from the admin interface.

Now, what would be the best way to install smartmontools onto the current release without mixing up sources.list too much?

That's a great point, the SMART monitoring. We are improving our events scheme currently.

Regarding to the linux RAID, we have already implemented the RAID events in our event architecture in a similar way as mdadm does.

About installing smartmontools, the easiest way is to change the sources.list to add a Sarge repository and then,

# apt-get update
# apt-get install smartmontools

Nothing else is required. The sources.list will be overwritten when ebox-software is upgraded.
