Zentyal 5.0 DHCP not providing gateway to another Zentyal 5.0
« on: December 17, 2017, 07:16:43 pm »
Hello everyone,

I have 2 virtual machines, both running Zentyal 5.0. One of them (mainServer) has every module installed and woring as Domain Controller, DNS server and DHCP server mainly. The other one (secondaryServer) has Firewall, Antivirus, DNS and DHCP modules installed.

Router --> 192.168.1.1

mainServer:

- Gateway: 192.168.1.1 as default
- Eth0: 192.168.1.2 as Static and External, the one connected to my router with Bridged mode in VirtualBox
- Eth1: 192.168.2.1 as Static and Internal, the one connected to my LAN, with its network adapter in VB set as Internal net

DNS configuration:
- Transparent DNS cache enabled
- Domain: zentyal-domain.lan
- Domain IP Addresses: 127.0.0.1 and 192.168.1.2

DHCP configuration:
- Configured in eth1
- Default gateway: Zentyal
- Primary nameserver: local Zentya DNS
- NTP and WINS servers both set to None
- IP range: from 192.168.2.2 to 192.168.2.12

Secondary server:

Just one interface, eth0, as Internal and set to be provided its configuration from eth1 in mainServer with DCHP.

My problem is that secondaryServer is getting an IP (192.168.2.12) but not a gateway and DNS. I havent changed anything in the firewall configuration.

What I would like to achieve is to have secondaryServer serving IP through an extra interface using DHCP to the actual clients of the network and have these use mainServer as DNS server (secondaryServer would have forwarders configured, but not sure if 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.1.2).

So my question is, what am I doing wrong for secondaryServer not getting a gateway and, when this is solved, how should I configure SecondaryServer as a forwarder DNS?

Please let me know if I should clarify anything in the post, since this is the first time I ask here.
